Welcome JayJay - I do hope you decide to stay with us! That's useful advice about bank accounts for those who cannot get a regular one. I haven't read the thread Mumzy referred to but would advise her to ignore what was said. Everyone needs some emergency money; the fact that someone may be on benefits doesn't mean they shouldn't be able to try saving and certainly doesn't make them immune from emergencies. Saving sounds sensible to me!

JAYWARD - (((Hugs))) to you - I know someone with Crohn's disease and it's nasty. I do hope the pain clinic is not too traumatic for you. Try and take it easy until then.

Well, it's a little too hot outside at the moment. I came in to cool off. I spent the whole morning cooking which didn't help; DH came home for lunch then went back out again. I strolled up to the local shop for the paper then came back and did some office work and now I'm going to sit in the cool of the sitting room and knit for a while.

Hope everyone is having a lot of sunshine.

Wow! I think it's the first time I've ironed and noticed that drops of sweat were falling onto the board!!! (Mind you, ironong is not my favourite chore, but needed to iron the summer clothes today!) Have sorted out two rooms today - they've been haunting me for months, so it's a good job done. All winter clothes transferred out of my wardrobe. Weekly shop done and all put away, and my material stash finally boxed tidily rather than scattered in several places. Off to a concert tonight, so quite a busy day all round. ((HUGS)) to all who need one today.

Got three loads of washing done this morning and made soup in the slow cooker.

DH gave me and two DDs a lift to the White Rose centre. Bought each DD a pair of shoes, two pairs of summer pyjamas each, cropped jeans for youngest and two tops and eleven tops for the 19 year old.

My feet hurt after all the tramping around but we all enjoyed ourselves.

DH is trying some of the soup now while I rest my feet and browse on here.

If I can summon up the energy I might make some more hob nobs.

    Hugs to everybody.

Hi all, I managed to blitz the upstairs after promising myself to do it for 3 days, just couldn't get motivated so I put my pinny on and suddenly I turned into a Stepford wife. I finished at noon and started to cook. I can't do gardening in this heat but it's fine cooking as the stone walls keep the cottage the same temp all year round.
I have cooked Beef bourginion, bourgianon, borguiniun.... Beef stew! DH said "where are the dumplings?" I called him a Phillistine. He said "no I'm not, I was born in Berks." Oh ha,ha
Also made 12 spicey beefburgers froze them and then vacume sealed them and popped back into the freezer. Still haven't tackled the leeks we were given, they're so fat I'll have to get the chainsaw out.
Asked DH if he could help me move the boxed awening out of the way so I could get to the freezer (I put it in the way deliberately when sorting out the shed) To my astonishment he then got the ladders out and fitted it outside the (my) study. I only bought it 2yrs ago. Wondering if the pinny had anything to do with it ;)
Anyway friends it's been good chatting to you, I have had a very good day and hope you don't mind me sharing it with you, I'll go now before you loose the will to live :D
Love to all with (((((((((( hugs to match )))))))))))

    Hello!:hello:

I read the beginning of the thread this morning but then had to go out. just read it again but still can't remember much of what people said

Catznine - hope you are feeling better today and have been able to get some rest! As other people have said, no job is worth making yourself ill over, though I do appreciate that the thought of giving up work a second time is upsetting ((((HUGS))))

Catowen - So pleased for you about your new children!:j I chuckled when I read about the LO trying to crawl - it reminded me that last night I dreamed DGD started crawling while I was looking after her! She's only 4mo so I think crawling will be a little way off yet. She has started rolling over though.

Penny_Pincher ((((HUGS)))) to you, will be thinking of you when you go into hospital. What a shame about your new garden furniture!

    Smokybabe and "Smokelets" - ((((HUGS))))

Mrs Mix, Candygirl, Poggie, Essex-girl and all with poorly OHs or parents - Thinking of you, and of them! ((((HUGS))))

Jayward - poor you, hope you will feel better tomorrow.(((HUGS)))

Tiredmum - nice to see you back, we've missed you:T

Mioliere - I did feel for you, waiting irritatedly for your DH to get going! It reminded me of all the times we've been going somewhere (usually to visit MIL) and DS has said he wants to come too, then we're kicking our heels while we wait for him to get around to getting up  and could have got loads done in the meantime! LOL about the knitting patterns btw - but I bet you didn't half enjoy browsing!;)

Churchmouse - hope the Plant Sale went really well! Have a long, hot soak tonight to ease the aches and pains.

Shez - did you go to the Psychic Show in the end? i quite agree, they should have foreseen it:p

Tru - what cute piggies! :)

Bargain Rzl - hope you enjoy your friend's concert!

betheebee - Wow, you have been busy! I reckon the pinny did have something to do with it. When I put mine on, I sort of feel I can get on and do things.....

I'm glad to say that the workmen turned up at 7.15 this morning and moved their fencing, so we can now park in the "Disabled" bay outside the house.:T

Went to the local shops this morning and found a yellow-stickered free range chicken in the Co-Op, so that's now in my freezer :D We got our printer cartridges refilled too, thus being "green" and saving money:A

Apparently the first thing DGS wanted to do when he got up yesterday was to put his new sandals on:p

Some of you may remember my mentioning a while ago about my MIL who'd come out of hospital and couldn't get up and down stairs yet, and as their house has steps going up to reach the road, she was housebound as well as having to have her bed downstairs and use a commode:o She eventually had a letter from the hospital saying that they felt her condition had improved as much as it was going to, and that therefore there was no point having any more physio. I'm pleased to say that although she's still stuck in the house, she is having a stairlift installed :T All the fixings are in place now, just waiting for the actual lift itself to go in. She says that when it's in, she's going to go upstairs with a bag of buns and sit in the toilet ALL DAY just because she can:D She also had a letter from the doctor to say she mustn't try to go up or down steps as she is likely to fall, so she's hoping that will spur Social Services on to get a ramp built in the front garden. It would have to be a zig-zag one as the slope is steep, and when someone from Social Services came to look at it a couple of months ago they said it would be much too expensive  :wall: but that was before the new financial year so there may be some money in their kitty now. She's always been very active for her age despite being in a lot of pain, and it must be so horrible for her being stuck in the house. Her DH used to be a Civil Servant (though a long time ago) so I think I'll suggest asking whether their Benevolent Society would be able to help at all with the cost of a ramp.

Anyway, I've mioliered for long enough so will go and have a surf now:D

    Best wishes

Ivyleaf, Love the bit about the buns etc!! -- Good for her to do IT in style.
Just a thought, if you were able to get a letter from the Dr. then take that to the SS they may look upon your MIL's situation as a priority. As I have been advised on a differant matter, phone, phone and phone again 'till they are worn down. Good luck and love to your MIL.

I've been to PC World to buy a new mouse as mine stopped working & been to Matalan to get a sun hat for hubby. We got back to find music blaring out & Katy doing yoga in the garden wearing a face mask & little else, well she was weating a bikini but as it was skin coloured I though for one horrible moment she was naked!
Tru, a word of warning with the piggies, they reach sexual maturity sooner than you think that's why I ended up with 28 at one time. All of our Daddy pigs, were very good Daddies, but a friend of mine had one who ate the babies.
Got a text from my DD today saying 'what time are we going?' Until then I hadn't realised I was going anywhere, seems each DD thought the other one had told me. So I spent a couple of hours with DD's, DGD & DGS & had great fun bouncing on the tampoline & climbing frame. When I got home hubby had planted all the hanging baskets & moved various plants around.
Lazy evening ahead in front of the TV I think & then to the garden centre tomorrow.
    Have a good evening.
    Hugs Hester
