On the downside, if you use a CPS, the diverted part of the call will be sent via your CPS provider - at its rates (i.e. without the BT discount).
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    Can call using bt ok.

Welcome to the MSE forums bubble08.

Only BT is required to allow access to prefix-dial and gateway providers. As part of the Vodafone package requires you to rent your landline from them (you cease paying BT for line rental and pay Vodafone instead), it is highly likely that access to prefix-dial providers such as 1899 and 18185 will be barred.

It is possible that, like Virgin Media have recently started to do, Vodafone will also progressively bar access to gateway providers too.

  • Therefore maybe i shoulld only get broadband elsewhere, and keep the bt phone line and use thsoe numbers to save money? would that b better.

IMHO yes - at least until you have completed your first 12 months with BT.

You can, of course, switch to a CPS and/or 1899/18185 etc. for your telephone calls immediately.
