shopped in Asda today, and as an SA was on I have used 3 times before with coupons I really went for it and gave her 12 (usually give max of about 6 to keep low profile as am quite new to this) she scanned them all no probs but till required a supervisor
I asked her why she said I had exceeded the coupon limit  .
Supervisor came put key in without querying it :j .
Has anyone else eperienced this and what is the limit before till asks for a supervisor somewhere between 6 and 12 but where?

Oh finally got some July Asda mags for the Coors coupons does anyone know if the 2 for £6 still on?

Finally on another thread someone said some Sainsbury's have men's Mitchum deodorant for 49p (old bottle) with the £1 coupon this would give a free deo and 50p off your shop, non in mine but one to watch for.:rotfl:

Hi i work for Tesco at checkouts, from the 4th august 2008, their policy for coupons is changing, they will only accept coupons for 20% of the shopping total ie if you spend £20.00 you can use vouchers to the value of £4.00.
This 20% doesnt apply if you buy the product. The 20% is only with coupons if we havent bought the product.

Similar thing happened to me in Asda last week, I used 10 coupons and needed a supervisor to authorise. Supervisor didn't query a thing.

Well that will send many of us scuttling off to Asda or Waitrose then!

I'll shop where coupons are taken - and as Asda products are cheaper and Waitrose products are generally better quality then either store would seem to be a better option if a restriction like this comes in. Hopefully it's just in your store rather than a nationwide change?

If such a change comes in it should lighten the mood of the Tesco shopping experience when some SAs (not you of course!) can't even work out 10% let alone 20%! And some stores will never actually read the CSM Daily Update about it so no worries there then in my local. :rotfl:
It also begs some questions if stores do impose a 20% limit:

    - What will the SA do if someone goes to hand over a nice £5 off £20 Spend & Save voucher they've been sent by Sainsburys? Will the customer be sent back to Sainsburys with it?!

    - What about if a customer wants to use, say, the £1 off a £4 spend on Organic Products coupon that came with the HL mailing from Mr T today? That's 25% off if they don't buy anything else! (P.S. and for anyone who got that coupon, it works without buying Organic - I used mine already).

    - And what if a customer has coupons for loads of the items purchased, can they still use 20% of coupons for products not bought PLUS the coupons for the products they've genuinely bought - or does the 20% include this?

    - What if the customer has a coupon for, say, £2.40 off Red magazine (or whatever) and want to buy just Red magazine and pay the £1 balance? Will they be banned for life & have their fingerprints taken at the CS desk?

Hope such a change doesn't happen...I like clubcard points too...

Just wondering which store this was? Presume it's a local offer only as I've not seen it? Ours have 50p off a litre of fuel when you spend £50 (this is also your total pre-coupons!)

It was at Tesco Springburn. You can still get the 5p off a litre (though I'll take the 50p if their offering it!) in addition to this too
I miss using my infinite coupons at Tesco!
2010 was the worst year ever :(
But 2011 so far has been a lot of fun! :j

The previous info on these threads is correct, thank goodness.

One store's policy should be the same as another. Tesco have a national policy and it's just what the first people you emailed said; you can use as many coupons as you like (unless a Store Manager has specifically imposed some other limit, which is rare).

The problem is that some store staff - and many more staff at Dundee - don't know the national policy; perhaps no-one in that store has ever picked up on it or had the real policy pointed out/proven by a customer.

You just got a typical Dundee staff member who didn't know the national policy, who phoned the store and believed whatever they said was right - and reported it back to you.

I don't see how that's clever of the Dundee staff member - all they have done is confirmed a wrong policy.

Sorry to post negatively and I encourage anyone to use coupons - but I think you missed an opportunity to show the first emails to your local store and possibly get them to allow the real coupon policy. It's not too late I suppose, unless you are happy with the store's restrictive (only five) policy?

I would love to be able to say sorry i got it wrong, but what i have said is correct.

I did go to my local Tesco with my email in my hand and i was told by customer services who then asked managment what their policy is and i was told only 5 coupons if you hadn't brought the item. I have to say that a good 99% of the cashiers know this too.

When i emailed Tesco's for the first few emails i got a basic email back basically they hadn't read all my email just the first line. But parts of it kept saying at the discretion of the Store Manager.

I think it's great if people go into their store and use 15 coupons and they all go through but I just wanted people to be aware that not all stores have the same rules due to the Manager discretion.
