Hester I can't begin to explain how much your stories of Katy make me laugh. DH found me doubled over the otherday at the 'coming home after the drinks party' story!
Right - off to do those last minute errands.

Morning :hello:
It's FRIDAY :j :j :j :j though I'm suffering from that sinking feeling I get when I realise that the whole weekend is somehow already spoken for!
Tonight I am going out to a show - I have already seen it once, but unbeknownst to me I'd managed to book for a day when certain cast members weren't going to be in it  and as I did want to see it with one particular person, I found a £10 ticket on lastminute.com and am off to see it again this eveningHowever, as I am going by myself, I should still get home at a reasonable hour as I won't end up in the pub.
Tomorrow I should go to the gym - I really want to make a habit of going swimming on a Saturday morning. Need to shop for fruit, veg, and boring householdy things like washing tabs and dishwasher salt. I MUST do some batch cooking or I'll end up wasting money on bought lunches all next week. And in the evening, I have promised a friend that I will go to a concert she's in (she's a clarinettist). The concert is reasonably local to me, and I will probably walk there (45 minutes walk, I reckon, and more logical than spending the same amount of time getting there by bus via a less direct route!). It's only a fiver to get in, too - bargain!
On Sunday I am singing all day, and it's just dawned on me that I will need to take something to contribute to a buffet tea - so that's one more thing to be done on Saturday. At least there's plenty I can rustle up with ingredients I already have. In fact, a fruit loaf in the BM should do nicely, and won't take more than 5 minutes of my time. In the past (this being a fairly regular event) I have had a tendency to put off preparing anything, and have ended up spending £5 on pre-made cakes at M&S on the way therewhereas if I take something home made, not only will it taste better but it will [STRIKE]enable me to spend the spare bit of the afternoon browsing in TK Maxx instead[/STRIKE] be cheaper too
PippaD - oooh, hope today might be the day!
Happy Birthday MSE Martin :bdaycake:

Good morning!:hello:
Hooray, the road outside is being tarmac'd so I really, really hope they'll be finished today. Thanks for the kind wishes Catowen! I did feel sorry for the workmen yesterday, it was so hot and they got very fed-up - let's just say voices were raised at one pointIt's cloudy atm, though I can see the sun's trying to come through, so they will be more comfortable today. I've hung out some washing DH did yesterday and will hope it doesn't rain.
DH seems to be okay now too, thank goodness! I'm sure he will be desperate to get out of the house today so we may up moving the car and hoping there will still be a parking space when we get back.
I went with DD2 yesterday to get DGS some new shoes, as it's now a bit hot for his boots. To our relief he didn't make a fuss about having his feet measured, just watched curiouslyHe must have remembered that nothing nasty happened to him last time we took him there! And besides, there was a man waiting outside with a Yorkshire terrier, and that was far more interesting than trying on shoes:p . DD bought him a cute pair of Ecco sandals. His boots still fit him atm, so he can wear those if it's wet or if he's playing footie with his Dad in the garden:cool:
Smokybabe - so nice to read your post, and so glad that you have such a good GP (((HUGS))). You are doing really well even though you may not always think so.
Tru - what lovely babies! Hope the littlest one will be okay.
Catznine - would you really like another puppy? you're a glutton for punishment - though tbh I'd be a bit tempted myself if we weren't going on holiday next month! Sorry to hear there's a bad atmosphere at school atm, that's definitely something you could do without! (((HUGS)))
Shez :hello:
Churchmouse :hello:
Mioliere :hello:
Pippad - good luck, hope baby arrives today!
Penny_pincher -hope you have a good day today.
Scuzz - good luck finding a nicer job, you deserve one!
Mrs Mix (((HUGS))) thinking of you.
jackieO -so glad for you that the chemo is over! Hope you have a lovely day.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARTIN:bdaycake: :bdaycake:
Hope everyone has as good a day as possible, and apologies as usual for not mentioning everyone individually!
Ooh, nearly forgot -Bargain Rzl - have fun with your Kenwood! I've got one and have been really pleased with it. Much better quality than the Moulinex I had before ( that one was a Christmas present from DH one year. I said I'd really like a food processor and it didn't occur to him that I'd like to choose it myself! Still, it did come with a GH Food Processing cookbook.)
Best wishes

Thanks ivyleaf - in the end I didn't even get around to taking it out of the box last night! Depending on what time I get home today, I might investigate the manual and how it all fits together.
My boss is buying a telly and has been very grateful to me this morning for introducing him to the magic of Quidco
oooh... been watching "a certain thread" that started life on this board and got moved a couple of times... looks like it's finally been deleted:rotfl:

I have been unable to tear myself away from the "copyright" thread for over an hour this morning.
When I last looked it said "closed".
I did manage to get in the comment that to post on Martin's website implying he was trying to rip off people's recipes and somehow get rich as a result of forum members was not a way to get appreciated!
Twinks hobnobs were great! I used the remaining half that had been in the fridge to firm up and they look like proper biscuits.:j
DD has taken some to school for her lunch - last day of SATs!
Gong to have a shower and get dressed then start to prepare the menu that was on the T.V. - lamb koftas and chutney and split pea curry with rice.
Might make double the quantity of split pea curry then DH can have some tomorrow if he likes it.
Have dental checkup this afternoon so need to get moving.
Hugs to JackieO, smokey, mrs mix and everybody!"This site is addictive!"
