Hi Mizmir!
Sounds like it was a good day, I like the sound of it. Paying it forward, for instance, is what we do all over mse. I get a lot of help on the GIOL board; I couldn't possibly give any help on there, so I try to give help on here when I can, as well as doing my own thing, and I think nearly everyone does the same.
Planning backwards is a good way of putting it too. I've heard it put something like, know what your ultimate goal is, and make sure the babysteps you take are in line with that goal - but planning backwards is a lot more specific, I like it.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Agree on the paying forward here! Definitely.
Planning backwards makes a lot of sense - but is quite hard to do (have been trying it!) - but will persevere. I suppose it is difficult to step outside the day to day stuff which takes up so much time and space. But I realise I need to have clear plans if I am going to make it to where I want to be.0 -
Right - just had another min payment go out - so rounded it up and overpaid by £21 to fill in two more squares! :jDay two and I have paid off a fortnight's payments! it will slow down of course - as a lot of these are scheduled payments and it is the overpayments that are more difficult. But it is an encouraging start.0

Absolutely! I'm feeling really down today, for no obvious reason, always good to hear good things. I think I'm off to slurp some echinacea.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Realised I had miscalculated - and had actually paid off more - so rounded it up to a 3rd square!
Sub 19K in touching distance - just need to get some of these matched bets played through.....

Know the feeling - I have days like that - and felt awful (physically) when I woke up this morning. Easing off a bit now. Hope the echinacea helps!0 -

Well continuing on my "getting sorted for September" theme I am trying to make sense of work. It is all a bit chaotic. I am currently working on six fairly large projects, plus there is stuff to do with my team generally and admin to do. I use a to do list but it generally runs to around 100 items! I have tried a number of different schemes - GTD and others - but haven't managed to sustain them - I just get overwhelmed. Part of the problem is lack of motivation I think - I need to see these as part of the greater scheme - which of course they are as without work there will be no DFD, no saving and no new career!
I find I am neglecting some projects in favour of others - obviously work fluctuates between them but juggling 6 (I am project leader on 4 of them!) is pretty scary. One idea I have had is "One thing a day" - having categories (each project, admin, team, etc) and identifying one thing to do each day for each of them. Of course some things might be very small (like replying to an email), others might be big, but at least I would be progressing each a little each day. Does that sound feasible - or am I just going to get more behind?
Any bright ideas for managing this welcome!0
