Hi,I have just counted the set tom's on one plant a (RED ALERT) there are :j 112 :j all just around the size of cherry tom's, none are "turning" just yet.
It's the first time I have grown this type and not the last. It should only have small fruit but thats OK by me for summer salads.:D

Can any-one beat it come on let us know,I'm still counting. When they are ripe I shall add a photo.
If you think this has helped make my day and hit the thanks button:beer:

Bet no-one's got one like mine: I've got a Gardener's Delight with only two tomatoes (one ripening) and a Sungold with none at all.
Now that HAS to be a record!
    Seriously though, well done you.

I think I have the record, 4 tom plants and no toms, 1 cucumber plant and no cucumbers, and at this rate all my spuds will have no spuds when I have another firkle in about 6 weeks time!!

    AND

I ran over my pumpkin which was about the size of a very large marble with my wheelie bin last night!!! (don't ask how I managed it but I did) it is now very miss shaped and soft!

I think I hold the record with potatoes :p

Dug up a pink fir apple last night to find only 3 small marble-sized spuds :(

Not doing too bad here although things not ripening very well (hopefully with the forecast this week things might start to improve !)

Have loads of tomatoes (sungold - outside) and a fair few on my other cherry ones (can't remember the variety offhand !) which are in the greenhouse. However, i've got leaves that have black edges to them so not sure what 'disease' they have - any experts care to help on that one  ?

Have 2 small cucumbers (don't seem to be growing very much) and loads of peppers and chillis. Runner beans doing well although I have to go out daily and spray because of the darned black aphids (thousands of them !!! grrrrrrr).

Courgettes coming to an end I think but MIL said they sometimes go dormant for a while and then produce again so i'll leave them for a bit and see what happens. Last 2 fruits have rotted off so not holding out much hope.

Have had more dwarf beans than we can eat (had them for tea every night for the last week :rotfl: ).

Also got 3 aubergines growing by the day now so all in all ......... not doing too bad for our first year !

Will have to take some pics when I get time :D

    Sounds like tomato blight :(

Remove all blackened leaves and put in household rubbish - DON'T COMPOST THEM! - keep and eye on your toms for any signs of brown patches and remove those also. The other fruit is fine to eat but they probably won't keep very well so will need using as soon as they're ready.

I thought it might be chameleon - not 100% sure though, there's so many diseases out there !

I have taken off all the stems that had black leaves on them and put them in the rubbish (wasn't sure if it was blight so decided to err on the side of caution!)

My toms are only tiny so not sure if they will amount to anything but hey ho, live and learn and all that. My sungolds are doing great so hopefully we'll at least have a few to eat !

Thanks for the advice - much appreciated

Embarrassed to demonstrate my ignorance, but I need to know, so here goes: I want some more coarse vermiculite for my container mix (following SFG advice here) and have been buying a bag for £6.69. (Sorry, it doesn't say on the bag what quantity it holds.)
Is the "SILVAPERL INSULATION VERMICULITE GRANULES V4 100LTR £7.92 EA "

from Travis Perkins the same stuff, or a specially-for-insulation/not suitable for gardening type of vermiculite?

Obviously, if it's the same stuff, or would be equally suitable for my purposes, the 100ltr buy from TP looks like better value.

The vermiculite you can buy for horticultural use is smaller granules. For seeds it is better, but for general use you can use the Silvaperl stuff. It is coarser but serves the same purpose and is a lot cheaper than the horticultural stuff. I use it in the mix I use in my pots for growing veggies. So to answer your question, it is the same stuff but bigger granules.

And the 700L on the bag means 700 litres. Most composts are sold by volume not weight.
