Hi i used to use baby oil but now use mr muscle window cleaner (or asda's own the green one) and they work
dont use tescos own as this wasn't as good.
Also as a previous poster said wd40 is good for somethings not tried in on stainless steel but i use it once a month on my slate fire hearth and it get all the scratches and marks off.Grocery Challenge Feb 14 £500 / Spent £572.10!

Starclen (cousin of the famous Stardrops) is great on stainless steel. Tea stains/hard water marks on sink, grease on cooker hood, finger marks on oven door - all are no match for Starclen. I use it neat and wipe over several times with a damp cloth.0

Hi
I've had a look on the mega index and can only find something about a stainless steel sink so thought I'd ask.........
I have a stainless steel (or at least i think that's what it is), anyway the silver Brabantia bin and having looked at it in the light it needs a good clean all over the outside but I'm not sure how best to do this without scratching it?
Can anyone advise?
Thanks0 -
Baby oil on a piece of soft kitchen paper towel or duster will bring it back to an 'as new' shine.0

It's a funny old world because I just came on to ask for help in this department too, sort off, once the speckles are off it I beieve you're supposed to oil it to stop rust spots, it's worked on my bathroom bin, so its worth a try! sorry about the hijack but since we're on subject I thought I'd see what suggestions you lovely folks can offer for my current crisis.
My problem is we have a big fancy range cooker in our kitchen (rented house BTW, and we're the first tennants since it was restored) there's a big metal scratch/splash plate behind the hob, which ususally wipes down with a cloth with no problems, we've been away all week and I didn't wipe it down before we left, and I looked at it this morning and it had wee rust spots on it, so I took a soft plastic souring sponge to it and it wasn't shifting the spots so I took a slightly coarser plastic scourer to it, with a wee splash of stardrops (I found some on the mainland and brought back 2 bottles) anyway it looks to have slightly scratched the metal in round scrubbing circles and it wasnt obvious till I dried it off, any suggestions on how to make it look better and how to prevent it from looking worse the next time I clean it?!xxx0 -
I'd go with baby oil again to be honest... don't knwo if there is a way of remedying the scratches tho... sozDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!
