I use olive oil rather than baby oil as it is next to my cooker. It works fine

I suspect that it's the tannic acid that does the degreasing and cleaning.

Thanks Squeaky - I'll say it again - I just love this site!

I'll now make a note to add teabags to my new cleaning supplies... along with the vinegar and bicarb!!!

Whoops just tried this and tea bag split!!

Haven't tried baby oil because I have a dog and her hairs would just stick to the f/f I fear:eek: ! Perhaps I'd better try the vinegar one cos there's a helluva lot of s/s to clean :(.

I have a stainless steel cooker and clean it regularly but just where the vents are for the oven I am getting a slightly tarnished appearance. It won't come off with good old fashioned elbow grease and I don't want to use an abrasive on it.
    Any advice would be great!

There are several tips on cleaning stainless steel items in the Cleaning section of the MEGA Index sticky at the top of Old Style :)
