Salmon fillets are baking and green beans are simmering.
Made Twinks hob nobs!
Memo walnut sized!!!! blobs well spaced on baking tray means exactly that!
I made the mixture too moist and ended up with a shallow tray full.
Cut into squares and now they are cooling they seem all right.
DH does not have a sweet tooth but says he will try one after his meal.
DD is due home soon and is in the middle of Sats so home made bikkies might cheer her up.
Will go out later and get the ingredients I need so I can make the menu featured on Martin's show for tomorrow.
DH fancies trying the veg curry but if I get any carping I may skewer him with the kofta sticks!!!;)"This site is addictive!"

Am assuming I know which bit of the country you're in then, catz - we got briefed about this earlier today at work as it was one of our substations and one of our employees. Not somebody from the tiny little pocket of the company I work for, but our H&S people have been running around like blue-ar5ed flies all day. Personally I struggle to care all that much about somebody I didn't know, when you consider it's just one person, and with thousands killed in Burma, etc... Sorry if this sounds insensitive but just the way I feelWe also had a huge power failure later in the day, ours is back on but for many people it has yet to be restored, and school has been cancelled for the day! I would be quite joyful about that as the atmosphere at work is pretty bad at the mo but this is all tempered with sadness as a man was killed when our main sub station exploded, I feel so sad for his family.
Anyway hello everybody :hello:
((((hugs)))) where needed
I am sooooo bored at work. I've been flat out for the last couple of weeks, will be flat out next week too, but today and tomorrow I'm struggling to look busy.
Got a ballet lesson this evening - can't believe it's week 5 already! Will probably cry off next week so I can go to somebody's leaving do. Was tempted to do the same tonight for another person's leaving do, but TBH I don't fancy going out drinking tonight anyway!
Dinner will be salmon & mango kebabs (been in the freezer since Saturday when I got them yellow-stickered at Asda) with new potatoes. I might pick up a mixed salad on the way home if I can find one with a yellow sticker. I must invest in some of those long-life bags from Lakeland. It will make it so much easier to deal with individual salad ingredients without having them go off in a couple of days. One of the pitfalls of shopping as a single person!
I am hoping to buy a food-processor this evening on the way to ballet - the Kenwood one that's on special at Robert Dyas. Have been looking for one for ages. The offer ends next Tuesday so I need to buy it before then.
Anyway, must be off, may be back later - need to do an inventory of the freezer so might be on this evening looking for recipe inspiration for the weekend!
Love Rzl xx

I appreciate thousands have been killed in Burma and that is awful, but as a christian I am not ashamed of feeling a bit of compassion for that mans family.:o just the way I am Our days are happier when we give people a bit of our heart rather than a piece of our mind.

Afternoon all.
Had a rotten time last night and this morning as we've been having power cuts-last one went on until sometime this morning after I'd left for work. So when I get back I have to chuck out all of the chicken, I swear I will be in tears as I hate wasting food, but I'd rather chuck it out than make myself ill. Gotta phone the leccy board as we've been told we'll get some compensation and it looks as though we'll have to buy food on the day as much as we can... it's so frustrating!
Got a busy weekend, most of which will be spent away from the home so I'm sure OH will live on take aways.... his choice, so it's coming out of his own spending money!
Meeting tonight with cake and champers-can't complain I guess!

Have two loads of washing on the line outside and have just eaten a late brekkie.
Might make salmon fillets with green beans and cabbage and leek for tea.
DD can have a chicken burger instead of the fish.
Would love to try making the menu on Martin's show last night so might go shopping later for some spices etc. and make it tomorrow.
If I am brave enough I will use the epilator on my legs and look out a skirt.
Hugs to everyone.

PenPen, thank you for the pic
They are sooooooo cute....
Anyhow, home from the office, decided to come and work at home as I can concentrate better (it's quiet while DD's are at school). Very difficult to work in an office base where you don't have your own desk, and have to hotdesk, with a tiddly little 18" square locker (at ground level) to keep all your stuff in. However, it was decided by people who don't actually have to work like that it was "efficient". The unsettling effect obviously doesn't matter....
Must get on for a bit, drop back later.
No, I heard it on Radio 4 (half asleep) and then they were interviewing some people on BBC breakfast telly."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Catznine - I'm the same. These things always make me think 'there, but for the grace of God, go I or my family'. I think it is what makes people want to help in any way they can, be it sending money to disaster funds or getting in a bit of shopping for the elderly neighbour who is struggling on their own or trying to rescue someone in danger as the emergency services do. Human nature, I suppose, but without it what would the world be like?
Shez - my DS2 went to Bratislava last year for a stag weekend - he can remember hardly anything about it, and barely remembers getting on the plane to come home! He has not drunk like that since! I think it was the cheap vodka that was so tempting and he is not used to spirits. Now that he and his girlfriend have bought a house, he just drinks the odd can of beer at home.
Betheebee - you poor thing; that must have been so embarrassing for you in the supermarket. Aren't you due to have an op soon or is it someone else I'm thinking about?
Well, I'd better go and get the dinner on; we've had a beautiful day here. I've worked really hard all day and, as soon as I sit down in the sun, my DH comes home and thinks that's what I've been doing all day! How do they time it so well!
See you all later.
