DD1 wants flowers but she needs to learn that flowers don't taste good in a salad...any suggestions for an inexperienced veg grower?
Nasturtiums, chive flowers and pansies are good in salads

My suggestion - get yourselves over the the Green Fingered board for more advice

Morning girls and boys!
Lovely day again here. Not sure what to do...garden things, house things, trip out... I need a table cover for the new table we got a couple of weeks ago. It has 2 very deep scratches on it, which we are hoping to get treated, but don't want any more damage. We managed to get it for 50% in a shop closing down, the best thing being it's the one that we have been looking at since Christmas.
Report on the news this morning is about how much food is thrown away. Family looks like mr and mrs perfect and a kitchen even bigger and better than mine! LOL! Children sitting neatly at the table doing homework. Alarming how much is wasted.
She has just mentioned the word 'old style'"Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
Trying not to waste food!:j

When we shopped at the weekend, I was persuaded by DD2 to buy some carrot seeds...in her own very intense way, she explained how it was cheap to get 1500 seeds so cheaply and they would be ready in ONLY 2 MONTHS....we'd been walking pretty much all day but the first thing she wanted me to do was plant her seeds ...so, we're at the planning stage for their vegetable patches...DD1 wants flowers but she needs to learn that flowers don't taste good in a salad...any suggestions for an inexperienced veg grower?
I took an allotment last year, and despite being a newbie, managed to grow potatoes, onions, cabbage, leeks and sprouts. It was a lot easier than I thought, and tasted much better (or maybe I imagined it)
Go onto the Greenfingered board, or if you have a specific question, pm me and I'll try to help. Good luckYou're only young once, but you can be immature forever

Good Morning All
pen-pen - they look cute!
Another glorious day here, OH has allready pegged the washing out for me!
Not looking good re the car! Too expensive to repair, then there is no guarantee it will work. Rang some scrap yards y-day! Been offered anything between £0-£135. I will try my luck with it on ebay then decide from there.
Quick grab for dinner later!
Best be off

Morning all
Bismark - dd(11) grew mostly flowers last year but she also grew an enormous marrow that had to be given away as we all hate it and some salad leaves - the leaves were great actually - she felt like hugh fearnley whatisface going out most evenings with the scissors to cut some salad for dinner. she also grew some accidental carrots which were discovered a couple of months ago growing in her wild flower box
anyhoo - just had a quick read before the dreaded w*rk so will catch up properly laterI'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 20080 -
Morning All!
Got a phone call at 8.00 am from BT, voice message from Asda saying if I didn't ring them by 9.am my shopping wouldn't be delivered:eek: Rang, and was hanging on for 10 minutes on an 0845 number:mad: , then they said my Amex card hadn't been authorised:o tried it again and it worked of course! Wouldn't mind, but I know I only owe £30 on it, and the limit is £6000:eek: I was panicking, as I've got three mates form work coming to dinner and most of it's in that order! Anyway, all sorted.
We are having: French onion soup with gruyere cheese bagettes on top
Boeuf Bourginon, new pots and ratatouille
Lemon Tart.
Hope that sounds ( and tastes) good:rotfl:
Got a new awning coming today for the back garden, yesterday it was too hot to sit out there:eek: The joists for the new deck are also due. So I'm a busy bee today.
Have a great day all!I Believe in saving money!!!:T

Morning all,
I haven’t been around for a few days because we took the boys for a long weekend in London. It was fabulous and we had a great time but I’d forgotten how tiring sightseeing in London could be, especially in this heat.
The highlight for me wasn’t Covent Garden, the London Eye or Harrods but meeting Churchmouse who is one of the loveliest people you could ever hope to meet. We had a lovely lunch and laughed a lot.…we spent three hours together but it wasn’t enough. Thank you so much for taking the time to come up to London. xx To save Haribo and Aussie asking the question, we were both still sober when Churchie went to catch her train.

So, back to normal for me today…
It's a glorious morning here so the first load of washing is out on the line and I need to get stuck into the garden. Some of the veggie plants are looking tired and need a good drink and the lawn needs to be cut. I’m still in holiday mode so I’ve given no thought on what to do for tea….I’ll go and have a poke in the freezer for ideas.
I hope you all have a good day.

Very liberating actually

Hi all
Little to report. Simple beans hotdog on cheesey toast with a poached egg and worcester sauce yesterday. Tonight is gonna have to be the fajitas I think, with chicken biryani to finish off tomorrow from freezer

Good morning!:hello:
Thr roadworks started up at 7.00  but it looks as if they may manage to finish today, thank goodness. DH is managing to sleep through the racket!
WM is on with some of DS's washing - he was a bit behind this morning and didn't have time to put it in himself. He was due to be somewhere at 9.00 but didn't leave the house until 9.10:rolleyes: His friends usually tell him to meet them at least half an hour before the time they actually want to meet, then there's some chance he'll actually be there on time:D
Dont have a clue what to do about dinner tonight. DH should be well enough to eat it, but we usually eat at about 7.00 - 7.30 but this evening there's a Confirmation service at our church and they asked for people to go along and help lead the singing so I said I'd go. But they asked us to be there at about 6.45 for a run-through beforehand, so it means having either a very early or very late dinner. I expect I'll plump for the really early.
Not really got anything else to say this morning, except of course (((((( HUGS)))))) to everyone who needs one, again sorry not to mention everyone individually, and :hello: :hello: :hello: :hello: to everyone else! I do think of you all during the day and pray for those going through sad or difficult times.
Best wishes
ivyleaf xx0
