Once bent down to pick up a coin and it was stuck to the ground. How embarrassing.

I have no shame. I'd be back with a hammer and chisel :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Thank you. I speak from experience. :D

However, if you lend them any more than that, it gets bloody expensive. (And yes, I've done that too...)

Many years ago when getting out of the car I saw a small box lying in the gutter, when I opened it there was a diamond and aquamarine ring inside, I took it to the police, but it was never claimed, eventually when it became too small for me I gave it to my then DIL, she had it cleaned and valued, at that time some 10 years ago it was valued at £350.00.

Cannot imagine how it got in the gutter....... but their loss was my gain.

My husband always gives coins on the pavement a furtive little kick before bending down to pick them up. I think he's fallen for the coins glued to the pavement trick in the past!

In the last few months I've found various small coins, one of those posh gift bags people use and 2 pairs of working scissors. The latter are due to me grubbing around in the woods and hedgerows whilst foraging for free food!!

  • How does the receipt points thing work? Presumably I take the receipts to customer services and they add the points to my loyalty card? Is there a time limit?

(I've only got a Clubcard btw)
  • My son found a little, cheap ball under a seat in Morrisson's today. It was past the checkouts, so someone had presumably bought it and forgotten it. We took it to a member of staff and asked her if it should go in lost property. She pulled a face at it. I asked her if my son could keep it as it had obviously already been paid for by someone. She looked at me as if I was crazy for a moment, said yes, looked at my son with pity (imagine letting him play with something he FOUND for goodness' sake!) and walked off.
