Sorry to hijack the thread, but I just wanted to point out to everyone collecting bottle tops for wheelchairs, this is a scam.

My friend had 'roses' tins to put her kids pens and legos in. I really wanted some but we never buy tins of chocolates (wouldnt last 3 mins in this house!) walked home from the bus and three doors from my friends house there were three tins at the top of the wheelie bin proping the bin open - kind of knew the old gent to say hello to! he said I could have the tins he had just put them in - gave them a wash with anti bac and they were fab. He saved two more for me after the next christmas.

    Always pick up pennies etc..

Haven't found any stamps! vouchers etc..

Found a wallet at reading festival - saw a girl frantically looking for it and as it had some i.d in we knew it was hers she was grateful to get it back (wish the ******** who nicked mine had been so nice)

When the instant lottery tickets first started my brother found several for a pound that people had thrown away

    Will look more carefully now!

48 quid! 48 quid! Good going!
I always pick up money, because it's free money. I don't keep records, so have no idea how much I've had. My motto is: "See a penny, pick it up, and all day long you'll have 1p more than you started with."
    :D
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

I never find anything. DS often finds pennies and five pences - have to say I'm a bit too embarresed to pick it up. He shouted look mummy - money - at the top of his voice on the bus the other day and nearly tripped over his feet to pick it up - it was 3p!! He did find £1.60 under a bench at the bus stop the other week too - and he's always finding feathers. I did find a tenner once in a puddle - I dried it off on the radiator. Nephew found an expensive camera on the rocks at the beach - handed it in to police - nobody claimed it and he got to keep it.
  • When I help out at the youth centre I often do quite well as the kids tend to throw their coppers away or leave them behind after they get their tuck.

Also did quite well in university bars etc.

Get the occasional money off coupon out of trolleys at tescos - sometimes see the receipts but don't have the courage to take them to customer services

I always feel I have to wash everything more than once if I find things!
Always imagine a dog has peed on them or worse!
Once bent down to pick up a coin and it was stuck to the ground. How embarrassing.

Did find a little teddy bear in a Tesco trolley today. Took it to cust svs as imagined a child crying for his favourite toy. aaaaaaaaah

If I see any pennies or 5p's when Im out I point it out to DD's and they fight over who picks it up and keeps it. If Im not with them I never have the nerve to pick it up in case people think "look at her, she must be really hard up!" lol I saw a 20p on the seat of the bus I was about about to sit. I saw another lady watching me so I sat on it and pretended not to have noticed, but when she got off I slid my hand over it quick. Am I sad? Also if I ever saw a £1 coin Id be convinced it was a trick and glued to the floor.

My late auntie was really lucky and was always finding things, it became a standing joke. My mom said she had eagle eyes, shed be walking along and suddenly swoop down and pluck a four leaved clover out of a patch of weeds by the side of the road, but she always gave them away. If she won anything, or found anything she would always share them, because she said if you share your luck it will always come back to you. When I was a kid I made a bookmark covered in clear sticky backed plastic with all the four leaved clovers she had found and given to me in the hope of attracting some luck my way.

She was convinced the reason she was lucky and found things was because she had some lucky charms she carried around with her all the time, safety pinned to her bra! When she went on a plane on holiday she set the security alarms off when being searched at the airport and was not at all embarrassed to haul her bra strap out and remove them!

I had a similar experience at Reading. We work up at 5am to hear my friend screaming that someone was in our tent, we opened up our door and saw that the main door to the tent was open, she had had her bag stolen with her phone, wallet ect in. We got up and ran around looking for it hoping that they would have atleast dumped the phone and personal items, whilst we were looking we must have found at least 10 wallets, more sets of car keys, mobiles, hand bags ect. It was totally shocking really, some were items that were clearly too personal to be found with like id cards and others looked like the theif had been seen and had chucked the stuff and run off.

On a more bright note I pick anything up if I think it has a use. My OH hates it, although he is getting better at picking up pennies for our savings box. I found a Intuition £3.00 voucher stuck to the front of a broucher in Boots the other day which as very lucky. I work in a school and manage to pick up lots of pennies and pens and rubbers. I shall have to start collecting receipts for points though, I had never thought of that!
