DD found a lighter in the school playground and decided to see if it worked
In the past I gave found enough food at glastonbury to live on for 3 days after it finished, converse boots, sleeping bags etc.
My kids are always picking up the odd penny here and there.
Once found someone's card and looked up the name in the phone book and found the owner, and returned it to him. He was delighted - just before xmas and he'd been out of the country and would otherwse not have been able to buy any pressies.
Got a key for the flat next door bcos when I found it no-one would come to the door. Just waiting til I see the landlord again...
Found a cucumber once, still wrapped, so that went in a salad.
Sis found a bundle of notes once, about £100 I think.Member no.1 of the 'I'm not in a clique' group :rotfl:

Walking home from my daughters playschool wondering where I would find the money for the newly introduced uniform (just jumpers) I found a £10 note. I initially ran over it with the buggy and screamed to my daughter to pick it up before it blew away. If anyone had seen us they'd have thought we were a couple of looney tunes!:rotfl:"all endings are also beginnings. We just don't know it at the time..."0

caffeinehit wrote:How does the receipt points thing work? Presumably I take the receipts to customer services and they add the points to my loyalty card? Is there a time limit?
(I've only got a Clubcard btw)
Simply take to customer services and have them add the points to your card, I can honestly say I have acquired literally thousands of pounds worth of points wombling for receipts.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0 -
Well I can't remember ever finding anything other than discarded postie rubber bands!! But I can now imagine there'll be no need for safety-pin badges, we'll know fellow OS'ers 'cos they'll be the ones head down, eyes scanning the ground as they walk along!!You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0

Love this thread, found a lovely pale green cardi on the road outside our house a couple of weeks ago, popped it on wall but no-one collected it so took it indoors and washed it. It's lovely.
On the way back from our bike ride last Saturday there were loads of Tescos boxes and bags all over the road, a home shopping delivery van had obviously left the doors open and it had all fallen out!! A guy was picking it all up, whooping away!!! Was quite peeved but then would have felt bad about some poor soul not getting their shopping and probably would have called Tesco's anyway.
Am always finding tenners in B&Q's by the checkout, about £30 so far.

I always check too. And I'm going to find out if someone round here is collecting bottle tops. And stamps come to think of it. Good to do a good deed and all that!
Love the story about the broom handle. That sounds so like something I would do.
I found £40 in a theatre earlier this year. I handed it in and the woman looked at me as if I was crazy. I gave her my details but never heard anything. She was raising her eyebrows and sighing like she was just going to bin my address the minute I walked away. I wonder if she pocketed it or if someone claimed it. I hope the latter, but if she took it at least it's her conscience not mine!
Don't know if this has already been mentioned as I have to rush off out now and don't have time to check but you can post used stamps to charity.
I send mine to:

When I was a kid, I used to find loads of stuff - found money, gold watches (on the estate where I live, I went knocking round the houses til I found the owner, not even a thanks!).
Found a mobile a couple of years ago right by the side of the road, flicked through the numbers and called someone, they lived in the same village. They only wanted me to go tramping down there and give it to them. I was like, your phone, you come and get it!
Oh, found a west highland terrier once too. Called the owner and she came and collected him, little scamp had escaped. Proud DFW Nerd 135 :cool:Sealed Pot Challenge - 0190 -
We find children's playgrounds are good for finding money. Once we picked up nearly £3 in the wood chip!0
