My sister found £30 in a pub car park a few years ago which came in handy as we were on our way in for a meal and I found £5 in a shopping centre a couple of years ago! Other than that just the usual 1p, 2p, 5p's.0

Many years ago I parked the car at the side of the road and as I got down I saw a small box in the gutter. When I picked it up and opened it there was a diamond and aquamarine ring in it. I handed it in the the police, 6 months later they wrote and asked me to go in with the receipt as it had not been claimed it was now officially mine. I had it valued £350.
How it came to be in the gutter I really do not know, was it pulled out of a pocket with something else or thrown away, we will never know, but its a very pretty ring.
I gave it to my duaghter in law for her 21st Birthday.Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
I once lost a gold bracelet when I was camping, went back to the same site 2 weeks' later, pitched my tent in the same spot and found my lost bracelet - it was a tad squashed but other than that it was OK.
I always find money on the floor - pennies, etc. My chap found a tenner the other day (jammy sod). Mind, I also scavenge carpets from bins (the bins are clean), furniture that has been dumped, bits of wood for shelves etc.
I was in Lidl a couple of weeks' ago and found an abandoned trolly by the tills so I kindly took it outside and claimed the £1 that had been left in it.0 -
Hehehe, I'm always getting £1 coins out of trolleys.
But when I was 10 or so I found a £1 note on the way to school (showing my age) and proceeded to spend it ALL on 10 packets of Hubba Bubba chewing gum. When I came home I had 2 full packets in my mouth :lipsrseal and my Dad gave me such a good hiding becuase he thought I'd nicked it out of his wallet .
However - it is worth handing in valuable stuff to the police - if it's not identifiable (that includes mobile phones) and not claimed you get to claim it after 28 days - I have personally returned £1400 cash to a 15 yr old buy (with parents in tow obv), innumerable amounts of jewellry, Ipods, digital cameras etc - it pays to be honest.0 -
One of my sons works as security for empty houses. He found around $900 in one house. His workmates were trying to convince him to just keep it, but he didn't want to. Came home to mother for advice - awwwwwwwwwww! I told him he should hand it in, and reminded him that it could have been a 'plant' to test out the company for honesty; or even a 'company plant' to test out staff honesty. Thankfully he listened to me. He went to the Housing Office that was responsible for the property and handed the money in. They took his name and details and said they would contact the previous tenant about it, but that if it wasn't claimed within 4 months then it would be his. They sent a glowing letter of recommendation to the security firm about his honesty and he got the personal thanks of the Management. The previous tenant denied all knowledge of the money
, and four months later my son was given the money to keep - came to around £450!

I got a couple of big delivery bags at the recycling that came in handy. A local optician must have had courier deliveries, all their cardboard was in it, so I emptied them out and brought them home, spruced them up and they now house the spare pillows etc.
found bottom half of a medium kitchen bin left with bottles this time. emptied them out into bins and brought it home. It's silver and newish. I have 4 cereal packets in now, so that I can stack all my cardboard for next time. It took me ages to do the cardboard last time I was there, the slit is only about 10cm wide. I had a load of loose stuff from Christmas, cracker bits and packaging. Took me ages to feed it all into the slot, which is rather high. Next time I'll just have to feed in the cornflakes packets."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"
