Yeah, I've just logged in for the first time in three years (!) and it looks so much like a facebook-wannabe now. They've missed the boat big-time.I mean.. when Facebook sees their new redesigned site.. I'm presuming they'll sue. The new FR site is just a complete rip-off of Facebooks. (except still slow and clunky)poppy100 -
I just went to look at FR out of interested.
But EVERYONE I know and am friends with is on Facebook so no point going over to FR."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -
Reading the wiki, in 2007 Friends Reunited grew by 1.2%, but Facebook on UK traffic alone grew by 2393%
Good job the founders sold out a good stake before it got to this, I could see ITV cutting their loses on this one0 -
Had an e-mail from FR advising me that they will refund my £7.50 "as a gesture of goodwill".
Doesn't hurt to ask!0 -
I had an email from FR a couple of days ago saying that I had received a message.... In 2004!!!!Bank charges reclaimed: HSBC £1990
2007 Competition Challenge: Target £150
So far...£373.48 (MS Office 2007 Professional Edition) and a rizla tinI smell roses, but all I hear is flies0 -
i cant stand facebook, or bebo or the rest of them, if im looking for a lost friend or relative i look on friends reunited would never look for them on facebook or all the others..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -

Oh yes,me too,i would not feel safe on any of them. But Friends Reunited put me in touch with a dear friend from 20 years ago so i will be eternally grateful. And today i looked back in,after a while away and discovered a photo from 45 years ago:eek:,of me and my classmates at my junior school. Was well pleased!!0 -
Me too (drat!), let me know if/how you get it back.
I emailed FR and got the reply:
Thanks for your email. Unfortunately there were always going to be members like you who subscribed in the period approaching the change over to being a free website.
However, as a goodwill gesture to thank you for your support, I have now refunded the £7.50 that you recently paid.
Whilst we are happy to refund you on this occasion, we'd like to point out that we were not obliged to do so as you had already made use of the subscription service.
We're really excited about the new website and hope you enjoy using the new features to keep in touch with all your friends - old and new.0 -
I've not long ago paid my £7.50 so I am going to ask for it back. That is so annoying.
grrrrr

I didn't know that, so thanks for the info - I'm going to change my settings today.Facebook you can make private so only people you accept as friends can view your profile.
You can put friends into groups so one set can see all your profile, another group can see some and another one some more.
I remember when FR was £5 a year. I paid it the first year out of nosiness more than anything else, but I didn't renew it. I might have another look at it now if it's free, but I doubt I'll make any more use of it than I did then. I wouldn't be surprised if almost everyone I'd have wanted to make contact with (there won't be many
) is also on Facebook, so what's the point in using two different places to achieve the same aim?
