Thanks kitty kong, I'll see if I can get a partial refund. I've recently renewed my subscription to reply to a message. It's a disgrace that they only tell you when someone has joined or changed their details, but not let you know someone has left a message for you.0

All the cool kids are on Facebook.

...because I'm not on Facebook, so if I'm not cool, I must be hot!
I don't like any "social networking" scheme where unsolicited access is allowed to friends of friends. And because of my dislike of this "hidden" access to friends of friends and as many layers of friends' friends you like, I immediately closed my Friends Reunited account.

Facebook you can make private so only people you accept as friends can view your profile.
You can put friends into groups so one set can see all your profile, another group can see some and another one some more."I'm not from around here, I have my own customs"
For confirmation: No, I'm not a 40 year old woman, I'm a 26 year old bloke!0 -

They send me a email telling me ive got a message mabey you have to ask in your profile for email remindersThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear
Our thoughts are ever with you,Though you have passed away. And those who loved you dearly,
Are thinking of you today.0 -

What's special about Facebook or what does Facebook have that Friends Reunited hasn't?
The main thing it's got going is it's ease of use, setup a profile, find someone you know who's on it and add them, look through their list of friends and add the ones you know. Soon you'll have have old schools mates, friends, relatives, work colleagues and neighbours on your list all communicating with you.
Facebook book seems to be popular with those in 20-40's age range where as Bebo is popular with school kids and MySpace for those interested in music/bands
As with anything it'll only be useful to you if someone you know is on it but if not you can always start of the trend - next time you have a night out talk to your mates about facebook and I'm sure one of them will say they use it and it'll start you of.
Just one word of warning with these types of sites which is don't put personal information of your profile, stick to name and school only, don't put anything like when your birthday is on these types of sites - friends reunited included0 -
I would have thought FR would need all the cash they can get.
I mean.. when Facebook sees their new redesigned site.. I'm presuming they'll sue. The new FR site is just a complete rip-off of Facebooks. (except still slow and clunky)0 -

You can message, but unfortunately you can't see other peoples trees, I found this out because I haven't paid my subs yet, & tried to see my contacts trees, & it wouldn't let me.0 -
Too little, too late for me....
I remember when FR was the place to register, but costing money to contact friends was annoying so I never bothered...
Now Facebook has come along, FR is dead. Facebook has always been free and is MUCH better. Only annoying thing about Facebook is all of the applications which people keep inviting me too, but the "block application" button has worked a treat for that.0
