surprised folks still use FR, let alone pay to subscribe to it
its a clunky old site now, owned by a company known for crap TV and telephone fraud; I de-subscribed my free subscription ages ago
a certain other site will do for now, simple, free and, as long as you're sensible with the privacy settings (and SET THEM STRAIGHT AWAY), works like a treat0 -
I was only logged on a couple of weeks ago to retrieve a message, but I've tried today and I get a request to "revalidate my email address"
it's been more than 30 minutes so far and no validation code. I've checked both inbox and junk and the email address is definitely correct.
Did anyone else have to "revalidate" and how long did you have to wait?

Making it free is the only way to revive this site. All the rage a few years ago, but hardly anybody uses it anymore (apart from a few over 50s).0

Yep, they charged a fair amount in order to contact old school friends! If social networking websites incorporate 'family tracing' functionality, Genes Reunited will have to stop charging.0

I was happy to pay the £5 per year charge as my schooling was split between England and Scotland and there were quite a few friends I'd lost touch with.
Got that out of my system and then just popped in occasionally to see what they'd done to the site.
I noticed on my last payment that it was £7.50 but had a niggly feeling it hadn't been a year since my last payment. Too bad I didn't listen to my 'moneysaving' intuition and investigate at that point, as the 'twice yearly' charging totally passed me by (ie, I'd been paying three times the amount per year than I originally signed up for, and hadn't even noticed). Baaaaadd moneysaver!
Being a 'glass-half-full' kinda gal, I'm going to have to go with the 'now I'm saving three times as much as I originally signed up to pay' mindset.
:rotfl:
I did have a Genes Reunited account way back when it was free to set up (or maybe I paid another £5.. sheesh - I should check) but in any case, I don't seem to have that account any more so it must have lapsed. My cottage industry: MoKaPottery (on FB)
