  • My partner looked into various options for laser eye surgery and we looked at several clinics in our area. We were put off by some of the cheaper options and freebies offered as your eye sight is so important.
I have to say that Optegra in Guidlford are second to none their clinic is very modern and clean and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There website address is http://www.optegraeyecare.com/

There's a place by us that will do it whilst you wait!

    Very convenient I thought.

I would be very careful going for the cheapest laser eye treatment you can find, because my partner is one of the unfortunate ones whose eye surgery went wrong. He is now left with one very damaged eye that cannot be put right and whilst he can still see out of it, getting a cheap deal can cost more than you think! After the awful first experience, he did eventually decide to have the second eye lasered, but we researched this very thoroughly and he only went to the UK's leading man at the time who operated out of Harley Street in London. It cost a few £££'s more but it was brilliant and all now is fine with the one eye. The surgeon he had then has now retired, but he had operated on Richard Branson and other celebs and it is worth doing your homework and paying for the best, otherwise its best to leave it alone!

Rather than waiting until youve gone.

I see that two newbies are recommending Opegra Eye - simmo 1 and Eye Girl - seems like spamming to me. I can't report it at the moment as my email is down.

Hi Gail, please may I ask the name of the laser eye company in London?

I have booked a consultation beginning of March with http://www.advancevisioncare.co.uk/ in Harley Street London.

The price is fixed at £1300 per eye for LASIK.

    Anybody used them before?

To patch3228, my partner went to Laservision - I think 22 or 220 Harley Street London, and had a Mr Kenneth Williams, but I think he has now retired. The eye that went wrong was done at a clinic in Solihull West Midlands - the PRK method I believe... The second eye lasered by Mr Williams was done via the latest LASIK and was really great. After the first eye went wrong, we really wished we'd done more research. If you are thinking of this procedure, go to the very best you can find and if you can't afford the best, leave it!!
  • Thanks Gail, yeah will definitely not cheap out on this and going for the best I can afford. I saw Optimax and the 'from price' is always a con and with my eyesight prescriptions it will prob push it closer to £900 an eye anyway. Might as well go to a specialist for a bit more...

  • My DH had his eyes lasered at Optimax in Leicester nearly two weeks ago.

He was fortunate enough to be able to have the less expensive EPI LAZIK treatment costing only £395 per eye (his prescription was not very strong).

They did offer him Wavefront for an additional £400 per eye, but he declined.

TESCO (clubcard points) paid the bill, so only cost us a week off work......

His eye sight is better than driving standard now.

  • We all want it, but it so expensive! I know loads of people who have had laser eye surgery and 90% of them are chuffed with the results. One lady however, had lasik and was in a lot of pain for a week but still has no regrets. I'm saving up and have had two consultations. Dont be fooled by the tv adverts that say it only costs £395 for laser eye surgery, it doesnt. BUT, you can get the price down quite easily by looking for deals on ebay and good old haggling! Try finance as well (you can pay slowly over a few months or even years). If your worried about cost or even the surgery, visit http://www.youreyeguide.co.uk to read load about eye stuff. Good luck.
