Has anyone had a negative experience with Optimax laser eye surgery?
I'm considering Lasik treatment and wanted to know how others had got on before I take the plunge!

I got this in my email acct from them today:
Hello
We have on our file that you previously contacted us for further information about our range of treatments. We wanted to make you aware that we currently have some excellent offers available in our Aberdeen clinic including half price consultations and half price treatment. This applies as long as you have your consultation by the end of May and your treatment by the end of June.
If this is something you're interested in we would need an idea of your prescription to advise what treatment you would be most suitable for .
Please call 01733 296614 for further information or alternatively reply to this email.

I'm a bit bewildered by all this. Are people having surgery for just long sight or short sight or is there a treatment that would help with both? I wear varifocal glasses all the time at the mo.
Thanks!0 -

At the moment there is a poor success rate for long sight approx 60% (i think from memory) my optomotrist who did my laser @ Optimax was wearing glasses  not the greatest reassurance in the world hey? But he explained that he was long sighted. Top man though. Really reassuring then remembered me 3 months after when i went back to be discharged which was nice.
Soooo... at the moment they only do short sighted operations but the proceedure is developing all the time so i'm sure it won't be long before it's long sight compatable.

Any know of any current offers?
I am thinking of having LASIK surgery with Optical Express at £595 per eye i think it is.
Anyone had this and have any comments on it?0 -
Has anyone had experience with stronger prescriptions - -5 to -6 in each eye?
Where are the best places to go?
How much does this cost?
The cheaper deals all seem to apply to weaker prescriptions.0 -

My stepmum was -11 and it worked well with her - she now meets minimum driving standards although doesn't have 20/20 vision.
I had mine done over a year ago (I was only -2) and love it, I don't even remember that I used to be short-sighted!
Can recommend Accuvision in Solihull. Some people create their own storms....then get upset when it rains!0 -
Anyone got any recommendations for a clinic in Wales?0

I have heard that people in Northern Ireland are able to claim tax back on laser eye surgery using a MEd1 form - does anyone know if something like this is available in the rest of the UK??0
