Thank you Weaver, I hadn't tried them.

Just phoned them and they say I am within their range as they do upto a +8. Only problem is the cost, starting at £1250 an eye!

Have to talk nicely to my wife to see if we can consider this.

    Thanks again Weaver!

mine cost £1000 each eye last July but its worth EVERY PENNY

They do also do a 0% option its on the web site

Im actually going down this month with a friend whos having hers done. (2 of my neighbours had it done after me also, its was pain free, the thing I put near the top of my priority list was iits a 24 hour help line and they will open anytime if you have a problem even 2am if you have an emergency. You can go back as many times as you like for check ups and its lifetime guarentee (not including old age i.e having to hold a book further away from you as you get older, this is a natural old age thing and can effect some people ) - but if your eyes deteriote from the original surgery they will sort it out free
Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T

Had my done last April at optimax for £690 on both eyes + £60 consultation (epi-lasek). Like everyone who had this procedure, it was painful for the day.

Just really great not having to wear glasses, become so used to not wearing them now, would be dreadul just to think if I have to wear them again! Only people who had laser know how it feels to not be wearing glasses. I didn't get 20/20 though, one eye was -0.25. I feel both my eyes are getting a bit worse now, maybe because im on the computer >5hours for 6 days a week. Think I will get my eyes re-checked and laser again in the summer. It is free upto 18months after surgery. Cost £250 each eye if I opt for the Lasik treatment.

Am I reading this correct you would have then paid £690 + £60 + £500 for further lasik treatment total cost if you cost for the lasik is £1250 for both eys You havnt got 20/20 vision and the procedure was painful on the day

Do you have to pay for aftercare also ?
As your eyes are getting a little worse you also have to pay for further treatment to make them as good as the original surgery (within 18 months)
After 18 months would you have to pay again if they got worse

Sorry to sound a little dum I just wanted to clarify your post

    Answer to the questions above:

1.I had a letter to tell me of the special price offer in last March. You should either insert your email or request a brochure online so that they'll have your details, as when an offer comes up they will write to you. Should hang on to get a better offer, unless the £895 is for Lasik.

One of my eyes was -0.25 after surgery, so I didn't get 20/20 but they told me I can have the procedure again within 18months if I wasn't happy and if the sight deteriorated. I didnt't feel the need to have it re-done straight away, so will get it re-done this summer. Don't think it can be re-done straight away as u'll have to wait for the eyes to heal (cornea).

    2. No pain during laser surgery, only after the anasestic (spelling) wears out. The worse of the pain last for the whole day. Only feels better next day.

    3. For Epi-Lasek Aftercare are free for 12months after surgery, thereafter it cost £15 per visit i think. Free for people who had Lasik (i think).

    4. Within 18months is free if I have the same procedure again (epi-lasek). If I choose to have the more expensive Lasik then I will have to pay the difference, I believe is £250 each eye.

    5. After 18months I think it is half price to get it done again.

www.optimax.co.uk Request for a brochure and read up on them.

I had Lasik treatment with Optimax on Wednesday. The treatment it self was uncomfortable though relatively pain free. However at the moment my eye sight is worse than before the treatment.I've been told that this is normal and my sight should improve over the next couple of weeks.

    Thanks arsenalFc for reply

I was only asking cos I paid £2000 for both eyes in July 05. This was for the custom Wavefront surgery. I had no pain during or after surgery at all, and have had none since.
vision is 20/20 if not better ( I can read a couple of letters on the last line of the eye chart now - eyesight was -3 with astigmatism before )
Eyesight was near perfect after surgery - except for the water from all the drops they put in my eye during surgery. very very slightly blurry.
I could see perfect next day. The flap was healed in 2 weeks approx.
    Any repeat visits are free.
If my sight deteriates at all (barring for old age ) the repeat procedure redone free.
The procedure is guarenteed for life so if my eye sight alters at all they put it right. (again barring old age i.e close reading)

Dont think it matters which procedure you choose nearly everyone who has laser eye surgery is very happy with results, I cant understand why I didnt do it sooner - I think you have to have made up your mind to go ahead then decide on the place to have it done.
I would recommed it to anyone - if you want pain free go for custom wavefront surgery.
I work with computers every day at home & work for 5-6 hours a day and my eyesight is actually better now Ive had it done, no more blurred vision after staring at the screen for a long period of time.

Hello everyone just joined this great site! I had my both eyes done last July in Bombay Institute of Eye Clinic in India whilst on ten day family reunion. It was just a spur of the moment decision and one of the best I have made in my life. Total cost including seeing consultants was about £430 both eyes! I don't have any family in India and we had a reunion in a hotel in Bombay central. So if anyone is thinking of a holiday over there this could work out really cheap.
