ive just booked for hubby to have a consultation at the eye hospital in east grinstead.
Its a lot more expensive then optimax but hes very squimish and a woss so the latest one is ideal for him0 -
I had my eyes done at Optical Express in Newcastle, at the time it was £1200 for both, i paid £200 upfront then £100 per month. They where really good and would definately recomend them.I WILL get to uni........eventually0

I went to Optical Express for a consultation and I was told my prescription was too bad.
Prescription:
Right
sph: +5.50
cyl: -3.50
axis: 180
Left
sph: +5.50
cyl: -3.50
axis: 170
The sph value was the deciding factor I think. I was told that the lasers they currently have will go to +6 but currently they will not do the procedure above +4. I phoned a couple of other places like, Optimax and somewhere else. I was told the same thing. The only thing i was offered was the contact lens implant which I am not really interested in if I am going to be paying a lot of many for the procedure.
I have to call them back in a year to check if they have advanced in technology at all.

Dont know if youve tried - but give Accuvision a ring they may be able to help - they have a different laser to most companies. Thanks to everyone who posts comps :T0 -
Thank you Weaver, I hadn't tried them.
Just phoned them and they say I am within their range as they do upto a +8. Only problem is the cost, starting at £1250 an eye!
Have to talk nicely to my wife to see if we can consider this.
Thanks again Weaver!0 -
In October 2003 I got the buy one get one free from a thread here on MSE. Since that time I had my eyes done in December 2004, my mum and my auntie then got theirs done in December 2004, both on a BOGOF, because I recommended them. All in all there have now been 8 members of my family, all had their eyes done by Optimax with a BOGOF. All I can say is a massive thanks to MSE, you have saved my family £4760 in just over 2 years. All my family are glad they had their eyes done and wish anyone else thinking about it their best wishes. I have better eyesight now than I ever did with glasses. My mum was -9 and -9.25 with a stigmatism in one eye and she is over the moon at being able to see her alarm clock without searching for her glasses!
Thanks MSE!

I have registered with all the eye laser clinics and am hoping to get a BOGOF offer as my sister wants to have hers done too. I am just hoping I will get one through soon because she has booked her consultation in May!
