Help we have a cheeky mouse!! (merged threads)

We occasionally have field rats, they get into the loft
We put up with it for so long until brown stains started to appear on the ceiling
So in the end I got an electronic rat trap.Placed outside
Use a little peanut butter
They go in after the butter and then it ZAPPS!! them Instantly
More humane than an ordinary trap, but Expensive0 -
Any ideas? We've just discovered mice have been in one of the bedrooms. We live with a big garden next to a big field, so I guess it can only be expected. I've put some poison down. We don't want a cat by the way! Any ideas appreciated.0

You might get some answers in this thread, but I don't know how cheeky your mice are0

There was a fairly extensive thread on various forms of mouse death on Old Style a little while ago, here's the link:

I've used the non-killing traps when we had a problem, they do work as long as you release the culprits far enough away. There are links to those in the thread too.
It's the time of year when they try to find somewhere cosy for the winter!!0 -
Where did you get that from?0

All I am going to say is 'trap don't poison'. Its quicker, easier to dispose of the bodies and you will never experience 'the smell!!!'0

I live in a house in the middle of a field and I have those plug in deterrents. They certainly seem to work as we have never had a mouse but the lady who lived here before always had a problemtravelover0

We have chinchillas so we couldn't use those!0 -
I've got a mouse, too! It's been trying desperately to get into the house - making a dash for the back door whenever I open it!!!!
A quick trip tp B&Q to get some poison - can't cope with traps (humane or otherwise). My partner came with me to B&Q and decided to get a hedge trimmer - the girl on the till thought it was a bit drastic! Anyway, haven't seem mousey today.
I admit that I'm a total coward when it comes to dealing with things like mice. Spiders I can cope with but not mice. The only ones I like are in Beatrix Potter!0
