Help we have a cheeky mouse!! (merged threads)

We have a very cheeky mouse who has the nerve to come out when we are around, i have seen it numerous times this past week. We have put a humane trap with cheese down to try and catch it but it is having none of it as it wont go in. My partner has given me 5 days before he gets an inhumane trap _pale_ and sets it up, I can't stand the thought of an inhumane trap but i can't stand the thought of living with it. We have a dog who i don't think has even noticed we have a mouse, it was inches from her basket while she was asleep and she didn't even twitch.

Can anybody suggest how i can get rid of it asap before the inhumane trap gets put down.

    I use the inhumane traps.
My son hated the idea until he realised how long it could take a mouse to die in a humane one.
Ps they don't eat cheese try a peanut.

The Humane trap we have is a trap to catch it in and let it go well away from your home so it doesn't kill it. I will try the peanut now, thanks.

I hate killing mice and have to remind myself that they are disease ridden rodents that cannot live in my home. At this time of year I always have at least one mouse that finds its way into the house. For me the most humane way of getting rid of it is the quick, no pain traps. I find chocolate works every time, like me they find it hard to resist.

MissG I like the sound of your humane trap, where did you get it from?

I suggest that you check the back of your kitchen cupboards for packets that have been nibbled. Also check any wiring lying about in your home. Don't leave any food out on worktops or in living areas.

We had mice in our last house (old stone farmhouse surrounded by fields). I discovered we had mice when I found droppings IN my daughters bed. Within the next two days I found droppings under my washing pile, they'd chewed some of the clothes too. Then I discovered that they've chewed the towels in the airing cupboard.

I moved the settee one day and found some Chuppa Chupp lollies that they'd dragged underneath and started to eat. They'd also partially chewed through the surround sound speaker wires......oh and the had eaten two of the chocolate Xmas tree decorations, leaving shredded tin foil on the carpet.

The cheekiest thing was on Xmas day my daughter had left a mince pie out for Santa. Well Santa had taken a bite (as he does ;) ) and left the rest of the pie as proof that he'd been........... only by morning the whole bloody lot had gone

My first defence was to borrow a cat for a week..... worked a treat but just for back up I phoned Rentokill!

When he came he said that they'd been living under the floorboards and under the kitchen cupboards behind the kickboards. He left lots and lots of those poison filled boxes and we never had another problem.
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • We tried a humane trap once - after he'd discovered how to knock it over and get the food out the mouse then went on to eat the trap!
