NHS AfC job matching

Well?
How's it going? I'm still waiting, not being greatly reassured by other colleagues who have been matched to bands below their existing salaries. Many are going to appeal.
We were told, at the beginning, that at least 95% of staff would either be better off or at least achieve parity, I've yet to meet one happy member of staff and that's in an NHS trust with over 3,500 staff, half of whom have been matched.
We are going to loose key, senior experienced staff over this, I for one won't stay if my job is matched to a lower salary than I'm on now.
Vent over - hope those of you who are going through/have been through this are happy with your result.
PS Education system look out you're next...

It's an absolute nightmare here, only 30% of jobs matched and nobody has been advised off their band. Admin and Clerical has yet to be touched and it looks like we will work out for the worst.
Hadn't even realised that anyone had received their band, it's going to be a bad time for the NHS

I have been put in band 5 and have been for several months. I think the agenda for change is good for health care professionals. Yes it is a big change but its going to ensure staff are given the opportunity to develop and for example in my ward where E grades are very difficult to get as nobody ever leaves all the D's will naturally progress up the band as their skills develop.
I think it highlights the competence of management incertain areas. They should be sitting down and helping define roles with staff members. KSF teaching in our hospital has also cleared up certain questions about banding is going to affect us professionally and how we can develop our role.
And most importantly my pay has gone up alot!!:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -

You cannot go to a lower pay scale - If they band you and the pay is lower than what you are on then you freeze your salary until either your new salary catches up with you or your move jobs. There is time limit on the freeze but I don't know what it is.
Hopefully you will be pleasantly suprised.:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -
Hi Alison
That's great for you, I'm glad you've done well out of the matching. I think on the whole nursing staff will do OK.
The salary freeze lasts for 5 years, if you're lucky the new salary might catch up. However I know of one staff member who is facing a £2500pa drop; have you ever known an NHS salary go up by that much in 5 years? (Or rather 5 increments on a band)
I'm an allied health professional; some colleagues who are radiographers have been banded on a 5, and they are senior staff who are specialised in their area (ie CT, MRI, ultrasound, nuc med etc) who also report on exams (a job that used to be the sole domain of the consultant radiologist). Which quite frankly is an insult!
I hope that I'll be surprised, but after what's come before mine, I really doubt it!0 -
This saga is going to drag on for years
Imagine once they have all the matching completed the amount of appeals that will need to be dealt with. Anyone who loses out will obviously appeal and anyone near the top end of a band will appeal, hoping that a few extra points will push them into a new band.
Some pam's will lose out, but the admin and clerical end will probably be the hardest hit.
I just wish they would get it sorted and at least we'll know where we stand and can make a decision regarding other employment.

AfC is just for Clinical and allied staff, they'll be ok- it's the A&C grades are going to be hit hardest. A colleague at another trust went from A&C 6 to Band 3 - that's a drop of £8k. Her manager thought she'd be a 'little upset', but can't work out why she's appealing. needless to say she's actively looking elsewhere.
I was done at the beginning of July, but not due to hear until mid-Oct. There's no national profile for the job at the moment & I've been told that they're unlikely to publish anymore, even though there was one in draft form.

My daughter was regraded upwards. Got a £6000 increase ! Pity she had just resigned to go back to Uni fulltime to do a PhD.0

Absolute disaster at my place, non clinical staff all being knocked down, and yet when we try to recruit hardly anybody is interested for that pay(before reductions!) so you can imagine how it will be afterwards. And then when we try to replace with agency staff with the required skills, we are told the going rate for those skills is 3 times the salary we want to pay, complete madness!
And I wonder how much the whole thing has cost, a complete and utter waste of public money.Aha, so thats how you do a signature!0 -
Most staff in my trust seem to be doing ok out of this offers just given this July/Aug - not many seem to have come out worse off, 2 out of a department of 60 i think. This is in IM&T type roles however, i dont know re clinical staff.0

Just came across a job today for an SMP, in charge of 3 A&C 6s; 2 A&C 4a and 1 A&C3. Salary for the person leading them on? 21-27 (inner london mind you!). If the boss is banded at that, what are the A&Cs going to end up as?"This is a forum - not a support group. We do not "owe" anyone unconditional acceptance of their opinions."0
