  • Hi everyone,

My boyfriend received a letter from customer compliance this morning, only reason it was addressed to him is because i am on his claim and have been for the last 2 years. we both have mental health problems and he also has a bowel disease, and we both claim DLA. Our letter is ever so slightly different to others on here, where it actually says "we need to see you in order to discuss the benefit we are currently paying you. we need to ensure your payments are correct and it is essential that you attend this interview to discuss the matter

We have recently been moved from IS to ESA, And my boyfriend has only been in receipt of DLA for just under 6 months.....does anyone know from the wording on the letter what it means???
I must point out though that before my boyfriend moved in 2 years ago, we both had a letter from a CCO officer, and in totally, since i went onto benefits after splitting from my ex husband in 2004, i have probably had around 3 office interviews and 4-5 home interviews with the same CCO....And even had to go in for an interview where someone had told them i was working....and i was working, on a permitted work scheme through the doctors AND handing my wage slips into the JC+ on a weekly basis, so they were aware.

I must point out that myself and my ex husband do not get along with each other or each others partners, and my ex husband is a security guard for a group employed by the DWP
So again, not only are we really worried about what to expect (mental health and NOT guilt causing it) but I am sure harrassment is occuring with no way of putting a stop to it. ( a mistake happened at one meeting, while i was telling her that i thought my ex was trying to ruin my life, she turned the page and his name and address was all over the next page, under informant)

I honestly dont know what to do anymore, its mentally draining what mental power i have left :( does anyone have any advice or words of guidance you can give me??? Please?? xx
  • My sister received one of these letters a few weeks back, however she wasnt invited to the office, the officer wanted to come to her house. She was panicing alot so i sat in with her when the officer came, she was very nice, she explained there had been an allgegation against my sister that she had a partner living with her and the officer was there to follow up the allegation and to make my sister aware of the concequences of making a false claim.
the allegation was/is untrue, her kids dad lives in manchester, the kids go to him once a month, the only male she has going round regular is our dad to do diy, watch the kids, take her shopping ect but i doubt anyone would mistake him for someone she's seeing as he's as old as the hills, lol,
the officer was satisfied with my sisters explanations and said it was more than likely a false allegation.......however it is her duty to follow it up.
however they are crafty...when she got the letter she rang the office to ask what they visit was about and was told not to worry, it was in regards to a renewal form she had filled out and there was a query on it, nothing out of the ordinary and her actual claim was without problems, when really they should of said, someones reported you for having a partner living with you, we need to check.
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

I had to attend a second interview and the woman admitted that I had no case to answer and they should not have sent me to a second one. It was due to some fool at benefit processing who can't work out part time work.

i have had a letter today received a letter from customer compliance saying notification of a visit we need to see you in order to discuss the benefit we are currently paying you. we need to ensure your payments are correct and it is essential that you are available to discuss the matter the only thing i can think of is my incap benefit ran out in may its still getting paid i did ring them in march to ask for a renewal form they said they will be in touch when they are ready its worrying me too
  • I got a letter in the post yesterday saying I was “invitation to office interview”
We need to see you in order to discuss the benefit we are currently paying you. We need to ensure your payments are correct and it is essential you attend to the interview to discuss the matter.
On the letter it has you should note where there is doubt whether the conditions for the entitlement are met we can suspend payment of your benefits.
I got the letter about a week after I put in a tribunal form for my DLA I was on high rate care due to my Severe Depression and anxiety and Pannonia and changing moods.
I had to around may time to do the normal review form as you do I got a reconsider through the post saying I got put down to middle rate care as they think I didn’t need help at night , as this is wrong I asked for it to be relooked at again I got the same answer as I was unhappy about as this well as my partner who is my full time career for me we went off to CAB to get the help we need she doesn’t understand why they saying I don’t need help at night they also when doing the decision they went by my ESA booklet that got looked at I didn’t even get asked to attend the medical interview.
When all the thing with the DLA I requested the medical booklet from the DWP on the booklet that I got through with the medical that was done not in my present it stated I wasn’t on medication when I am on medication for the last two odd years none stop where I did stated on the booklet when I filled it out I am and has been for a long time on medication for my mental health problems I have.
The women at CAB rang them at the Jobcentre plus they said nothing been flagged on the system that I have done something wrong which is good I haven’t done nothing wrong so I no need to worry about that she also thinks it got set off due to my DLA getting put down .
Anyone been though a slimier thing could help shed some light would be good please all that happen of late has not helped my mental health.
    Thanks

Don't confuse the two issues - the DLA teams are entirely separate from the compliance teams. It sounds like you have been invited in for a simple check, not an interview under caution, nothing to worry about.

My partner had this very same letter 2 weeks ago. His interview was today.
Turns out he'd been reported as working and earning in excess of £40,000 a year. The compliance officer was very nice and at no point did we feel judged. He simply said the report had been sent to Fraud Investigators and they did not see any truth in the allegation (after checking our bank accounts etc) so the case got sent to the compliance officer team who have to act upon it by bringing us in and asking US if there is any truth in it. He wrote everything we said down and then made us sign it then sent us on our way.
It's very frightening yes but these people are not actual fraud investigators. They conduct a 15 minute interview ask for a couple of signatures and if they're happy with what you've said send you away.

DO NOT avoid these interviews. If you have nothing to hide go tell them just that!

a lot of people have reported that this is just routine however i got called into a customer compliance officer meeting+discovered my neighbour had tried reporting me....
Just had my letter (2nd one) got appointment Thursday. its USUALLY always someone has reported you! they basically want you to re-declare the facts, give you opportunity to "come clean" if you have been on the fiddle ! My wife is seriously disabled and although being entitled for many years we got our 1st 13 plate motability car!! That did it..apparently 2 reports against us in a month LOL... total rubbish but nothing to worry about.
Last time we were living abroad!! (i wish) if you get a "good" officer and he /she is annoyed their time has been wasted (again) they sometimes give you a "clue" as to where the report came from (by law they cannot "tell you".. they will also mark your file to stop it happening so often, its their job ...if they had "REAL" concerns you would be interviewed under caution. in which case take a solicitor with you. ring up 1st ask if its an "Under Caution" interview ..if not just go through the motions ...they are :)

Has anybody else been invited to a meeting with a customer compliance officer.... what are their roles, there is no way she can be questioned for fraud, so could there be another explaintation??

    Thanks
Yep ...You have been reported ..Simple as that.. Ring 1st if its an "under caution" interview re-book and take a solicitor.. 99% sure its NOT..we have been reported loads of times, they are just doing their job. Just don't stress, turn up (or they stop your money) answer the questions, sign a declaration and if its a "nice" investigator you will have a pretty good idea by the end of the interview "where" the report came from, or at least some very good clues...YES its a pain but i guess you already have your suspicions as to who reported you ?? Anyway DON'T STRESS :D
