Do I make the crumble the same way as the STC crumble here?

    Yes :)
How much sugar should I put on the gooseberries?

Taste one. How sour are they? More like lemons, or more like apples?
Do I cook the gooseberries first in the same way as the apple and then put the crumble mixture on and then back in the oven?

Delia says no! (http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/english-gooseberry-cobbler,868,RC.html) Ok, that's a cobbler, but essentially the same thing. How squishy are they?

I'm so excited! My first MrBE cooking thread! :j

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

Ok, now how sour do you want the finished crumble to be? I'd say twice as much sugar as in the apples  , but I expect somebody else will be along in a minute.

If they're squishy, definitely don't cook them first. They won't take long in the oven!

And now I have to go out, sorry!

D'oh! Delia says 100g sugar for 2lb gooseberries. Why didn't I look before? That might help!

    Really going now.

Well, having finished work earlier than expected, today's the day. :D

I'll just have this cuppa, and then I'll get on. :p

I've just put it in the oven. Should be done in 30-40 mins.

I feel cheated! Where are the pages of hilarious misunderstandings and unfortunate culinary events? This isn't what I expected from a MrBE cooking thread ;)
