Coop Cashminder Electron card
Comments
-
Hi Guys
I am thinking of opening a Co-Op account as I seem to like the set up of the company and their ethical approach to things.
My friends have an account with them and whilst they are probably some of the best feedback I could probably find I just wanted some other opinions on dealing with the Co-Op.
For some reason they have only offered me a Cashminder account (despite having an A1 credit profile) and whilst I am happy to have this reduced facility type of account I am concerned at some of the view and comments regarding their electron card - is it really that bad??
Any views or comments would be welcome.

The Co-op are brilliant, no complaints at all. I have no issues with the Electron card. Tesco Online don't except it, neither do Travel Lodge/Inn or National Rail Network, but there is another company online that do train tickets (it was in another post and I can't remember the name
). If you are buying online and there is no Electron icon try the Visa icon and that generally works.
If you are that worried then get your self a pre-paid credit card.as well.
Just checked and it is this site for trains.

Cant fault the Cashminder. Its a modern account i think as who uses a cheque book these days anyway.
I like my funky electron card and like you say they have a great approach as a company.:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:

Hi all,
Ive had the Co-OP Cashminder account a few years now. Superb for using online (ie internet banking) Staff are helpfull (telephone banking) and its an Ethical bank!
Not had a online site refuse me yet, though I dont shop that much, the only place its been refused (ie the cant process Electron cards) is PC World (in store) and Kwik Fit (In garage):rotfl:
Hope that helps someone!0 -
Thats strarge, have used mine ok in PC World (in store)0

Yeah,,I suspect its an instore infrastructure thing,,as ive used it ok on there websites.
Some stores must be ok with electron,,others arent.
Its one of those horrible situations,,,where you turn up to pay for the goods,,and the cashier says your cards no good, i then explain the cards absaloutley fine,,and their systems simply dont accept it (always fun with a queue behind you) especially as if most are like me,,,you no longer have any form of credit and its your only card. So its a trip to the cash machine and the item is left at the tills..
So the help point is,,,PC World Oldham,,dont take Electron..:rotfl:0 -

Remember that Electron and Solo both need live on-line authorisation.
If the system is down for some reason it will reject the card. Another time and day it would probably have been OK.====0 -
Well I applied to the CO-OP over the phone on Tuesday evening. The guy had barely said his name before I told him I was bankrupt. No problem. Was accepted straight away. The paperwork came through today with some paying in envelopes. In fact - had better go and read it now! card should be another couple of days.
Well pleased. I'm not that bothered as long as I've got somewhere for the DD's.
Hey Dalip - do you think Vicky will take Electron!!!???:rotfl:Deb Bankrupt 04/07/08 12.15pm

Here's a new one, you can't use it online with M&S, they told me it's because they sell alcohol on their website and it's issued to under 18's.Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Yeah i believe that is the reason that Tesco wont accept it online either:cheesy: K2nga :cheesy:
