Coop Cashminder Electron card

Hi there!

I've been looking into the Coop Cashminder account, and was just wondering if anyone knew where you can/cannot use the electron card that comes with it. I know they say you can use it wherever they show the electron sign, but would be pleased to hear whether anyone has had any problems using it. In particular, does anyone know if Tesco accept it in store?

Any help appreciated!

Thank you.

Some travel agents don't accept it I think and a few places online.

Not sure about tesco.. if no one answers why don't call your local store and ask them?

I've got a virgin prepay mastercard just in case I get any problems with places accepting it.. as yet everywhere i've been has been fine with it!

I would imagine it is about the same as online rules for instore, online rules are

"What credit card/debit cards do you accept for payment? We accept the following method of payments:
Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Maestro, Solo, Delta, Clubcard Plus.
We don't accept Electron cards, cash, cheques or paper vouchers/coupons.
If you do have an Electron card please check with your issuing bank as they can upgrade your card to allow you to shop online with us."

Yes its accepted in store in Tesco (about to use mine there shortly this evening) though I seem to remember a post saying it isn't on Tesco's online shopping site. Acceptance generally seems pretty wide spread both in shops and online.

I have been very pleased with the number of places that do accept the Electron card.
The only places i have come across since November that don't accept it are Tesco.com, (but asda do and i'm actually happier now with asda than i was with Tesco), travelodge bookings, i think thats it so far.

Also i have found some sites that don't show the electron sign but do show Visa will accept it if you put it through as a Visa. worth a go.
Its great still having a debit card, i originally applied to Barclays which doesn't give you a card but they lost my application for a while and i'm so glad they did cos the Co op has worked out much better for us.

I believe that as long as it has Visa Electron on it then it should be accepted everywhere you see the Visa sign (but try convincing shopkeepers of that!) - IIRC in the past some cards on basic/youth accounts used to have just Electron rather than Visa electron

    Hi
I have had no problems with my Visa Electron card- I did read Tesco dont accept it- but I rarely use Tesco so not sure.
Ive had no problems with it at all- even my little local farm shop accepts it, which surprised me.

National Rail don't accept Electron at the stations or online. As mentioned Tesco do in store but not online and Travel lodge/Inn's don't take them online.

That's the major ones I've found. I 'm sure there must be a couple more but I haven't found them yet.

Online payments for council tax and housing benefit can't be paid for using Electron (at our council anyway), so worth looking into :)
