Hi just received a letter this morring from the HALIFAX BANK . I am on benefit due to ill health i have worked all my life till, i collapsed at work and they finished me as i couldn't walk . The letter says they don't think i am in financial difficultly, and want a break down off all my out goings i get just under £349 per month. At one point they were taking all my benefit to pay bank charges, spoke to d h s s they got me to change to another account so i could have the money paid into .there .My point is what do they class as financial difficultly going back to old days and living in the poor house. You can speak to them as many times as you like saying its against the law they are not listening . I have even quoted the 1979 act to no avail .I am not letting them win its about time this country sorted its laws out its become a lawless society :mad:0

If you want to be heard as a hardship case then you need to give them your SOA as per the first post.0

Hi i've found someon information regarding hardship case and claiming bank charges but just wondered if there are any standard form letters to follow. My situation is that i've just been made redundant and i'm 6 months pregnant and my employer is refusing to pay me any maternity - where I am being told by job centre and solicitor that I am clearly entitled to some maternity from my employer. So, I will have hardly any income (only Maternity Allowance) from the goverment from what I can find out about at the moment. I own my own house but am going to be a single parent so i have no other income at all and unfortunately have tonnes of bills, including a mortgage - so i wanted to try and pursue the hardship line to see if I could try and claim my bank charges. My baby is not due until sometime in August so I don't think i'll be able to claim any other benefits until I have actually had my baby. If anyone could offer any advice or has any experience of going down the hardship route I would be really gratefull.
Regards

Helping my mother-in-law try to claim fees back over the last 5 years which has totaled to nearly 10K!!!:o
She has just split up with her husband and is therefore not got much income at the moment coming in.
In the letter that I downloaded here, it states:
[Use this section if you are having financial difficulties or DELETE. Please note you may need to provide proof if you are stating that you are in financial difficulty.]
I request that you deal with my case now rather than once the test case has ended as I am currently experiencing financial difficulties due to [select from a loss of employment / disability / serious illness / imprisonment / a relationship breakdown / the death of a partner / starting a lower paid job / needing to take parental care leave / starting full time education] and the FSA waiver states that you should continue to deal with hardship cases.
Looking at it, you can ask the bank to look into it straight away if relationship breakdown is included. What is the stance on this; is it working well?
For reference the bank is Nationwide.

You can ask them, but I know of very few cases that have been dealt with as a result. You would need to supply full details of income and expendicture as well as other information the bank requests. If they refuse and you think you have a genuine case, you can ask the Financial Ombudsman to look at it.0 -

So if they say no to financial hardship, can it go into the queue and follow the normal route?0 -

Hiya,
I'm a bit confused by my bank Lloyds TSB. I sent off the first letter template off this website and heard back from them within 14 days saying that they are going to record my complaint on my file and will get back to me as and when they know what is happening with the case. Two weeks later on 15th May 08 i received a letter saying my case has been sent to the Customer Support Unit and that either from my letter or from there initial investigation they believe i am in financial difficulty. I never said in my letter that i was in financial difficulty and i do not fit any of the criteria set out on this website. They said they would get back to me within a week so i am just wondering if this has happend to anyone else and if so what was the outcome?
Thank you
