Tired of being afraid

You sound so much like me in your thought patterns, its uncanny. Your doctor should be supportive and if they aren't then could you see another doctor? I've been through a few until I found one that understands. I refused to take anti depressants because of various reasons (ie. I'm afraid of being unable to cope without them, might just mask the problem) but in some cases I'm sure they're useful. A good doctor will work with you to find whats right for you.
Xx
Can I ask did you take anti depressants in the end? Or what was it that your doctor did that worked for you? I know I'm not the only one who has felt like this, but it can feel like it, i even worry about mentioning it unless it ends up on my medical records that I have problems with depression and it affects any future job applications etcLoan1: £9990 Loan 2: £1800 C card: £2850 (0%)

Just a thought but have you tried St Johns Wort?
I know someone who take this religiously and he used to suffer quite a lot with depression.
He swears by them, I believe the are available in Germany on prescription in place of Prozac.
You can buy them here over the counter at any chemist and supermaket. Maybe talk to a pharmacist? They wouldn't go on to your medical records.
Just a thought

Hi Rosy
Havent been here myself very long but have had nothing but good vibes and advice. First and foremost anyone who can clear all that debt is a VERY STRONG person and mega congrats to you - I admire you tremendously.
I am 40 and only married 9 months, so I totally relate to that loneliness you speak of - I thought I would never get married, have a home to call my own etc etc. At 37 I started my degree, meet a man (thru the internet, ssssssssssshhhhhhhh no-one knows that) 3 months later, got loads of debt over three years of student loans etc, and now I have half a mortgage (which sometimes I am not so sure is a good thing) and a decent job and getting on with life.
I think what I am trying to say is that you are amazing to clear all that debt and the world is your oyster ......many here will not agree with me ..... but owning a mortgage is not necessarily a great thing and renting and having some money to do stuff is not a bad way of living (hey, if it works for Europeans!) You will meet someone someday and lets hope you get to meet lots of someones that treat you good and make you laugh along the way. You should be very proud of your achievements, they truly are GREAT.LBM Feb 2010 £62,700 Total Debt Jan 11 [STRIKE]£49,403.84[/STRIKE] £47,530.32.

There is no point in negative thought, it takes up time and energy which could be used in a positive, happy way!

No, I don't take anti depressants, they suggested it but I didn't think it was the right route for me. But they can take the edge off and give you time to get things straight in your head-its entirely down to what works for each person. Whats right for me may not be right for the next person.
You're obviously a strong person, you've got this far, you should be proud of yourself, even if it is easier said than done.:heartpuls:heartpuls

Thank you for that, I know I should be feeling proud but it has been such a long hard slog, and I agree that sometimes renting can be easier, it's just that I feel I have been left behind so to speak by my age group, feel I should be more settled, house, husband, children etc it's nice to hear a story with a happy ending, just feel it would be easier with someone to share everything, am too embarrased by my situation to tell anyone, but your story makes me feel better, it's lovely.Loan1: £9990 Loan 2: £1800 C card: £2850 (0%)

Same thing as I thought, the medical records thing, but generally with jobs they don't tend to access that sort of thing unless you have a bad sickness/absence record. Its better to go and get advice, even if you don't want to take the treatment.

You're right it is uncanny, thought I was the only person ever who worried about the medical records thing. Also right, it is easier said than done.Loan1: £9990 Loan 2: £1800 C card: £2850 (0%)

Hi Rosy,
I know how you feel, well, at least I did.
When I was your age (15 years ago) I was living in a hostel with few clothes & NOTHING else, no partner-- nothing, a part time job that paid the hostel rent-- I knew nothing about rent benefits or stuff like that. I was drowning. I was on medication & drinking as well.
Life is different now, the only drawback is my partner (check my posts).
I would be really well off if not for him:rotfl:
I decided that I would try & pull myself out of that life & did---get yourself a pad & pencil & start making plans.
I would like to tell more here but it may be tedious & inappropriate on this board.
Good Luck XTallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0
