If the mess Nationwide have made of my transfer (see above) is not corrected to my satisfaction within the next week, I will be writing registered post letters to the manager of the department dealing with the transfers, my local branch, and perhaps even the FSA.

I will be charging Nationwide for the considerable time I have wasted in chasing them, plus the postage for the letters.

What a way to run a business!

NATIONWIDE: PROUD TO BE DIFFERENT. (The man from the 'other' bank in the ad actually personifies Nationwide to me!)

The FSA don't do complaints - they are just the Regulator I'm afraid. (or, as the review of their mishandling of my 'complaint' to them about another firm stated: "The FSA is not a customer-facing organisation...")

Does anybody know an email for Nationwide that I could send these complaints to? The higher up the better.

If u write a letter to this chap, things will get sorted quick. ;) ( Nationwide dont like giving out external email addresses) . I read that they are dropping the proud to be different thing.

....Nationwide are useless...I too transferred from Kent Reliance mid April, Kent Reliance send me a letter 2nd May saying transfer was going through. Back in April the Nationwide branch "forgot" to give me the new ISA form with the transfer form. After several calls & e mails to Swindon they sent me a new ISA form . Few weeks later rang and they appear to have lost this completed form. They sent me another one and a complete transfer pack...and so it goes on.......no more Nationwide after this aggro!!

To join the queue. Never had any dealings with Nationwide before.
Transferred my Barclays Cash Beater Tax Isa out to Nationwide. Funds left Barclays on April 10th, since when a compliment slip from Nationwide saying they had a request from me to transfer my ISA.

BLF, you didn't tell me that bit!

I guess I'll have a long wait too.

In fact are any of them any good at transferring. I've transferred from Halifax and A&L, that was a joke. They all take an eternity. Barclays seemed to take for ever and a day to open a new Tax Haven ISA, even
though I had a previous ISA with them. Oh well.

Just to let you know I got this reply when I emailed.

Thank you for your email, addressed to Graham Beale, our Chief
    Executive.

Mr Beale was sorry to learn of your concerns and has therefore asked us
to arrange for the matter to be investigated. You should receive a
response very shortly, although this will be by telephone and/or letter
rather than email to ensure confidentiality. It may also be necessary
for the Senior Manager dealing with your concerns to contact you first,
to gain some more specific information about your own situation.

This doesn't fill me with any confidence because I didn't include any details of my telephone/address when I emailed them.
    Regards

Is a standard initial response, it is however true that they have to answer complaints by post. ( people can email complaints and up dates to complaints, its the organisation that must answer by post)

Me and others on here have found that matters have been sorted quickly when making contact via that route.

I dont mean to appear cheeky, i did say write a letter and email it, letters always contain name and address otherwise how can an organisation look into anything.

Letter should contain all relevant information including history of transfer that u are aware of.
  • I went into the branch a week after 5th April to open the Fixed Rate ISA, into which you could transfer last year's ISA. Checked all the details on this site. Sat down with the adviser and explained that I was choosing this account as it had a fixed rate and I could transfer in last year's ISA, as well as putting all of the 3,600 for this year too. Even showed her my Barclay's ISA statement from last year to make sure this was OK. "Oh yes", she said..."And it's OK to transfer last year's ISA after I've given you this cheque for 3,600 to open the account?"..."Oh yes, perfectly fine, do the transfer whenever you like", she said.

Spent 20 minutes on hold today to Nationwide to find out why I was having difficulties doing the transfer...turns out I cannot transfer any more funds as they have registered me on the Fixed Rate 1-Year Bond...what on earth has happened here? I explicitly asked about transfer, and received a confident explicit reply.

What do I do? Complain? To what effect? Do I transfer both ISAs now to another provider? I just wanted all my ISA money in one easy-to-manage pot. Absolutely, majorly cheesed off about this...looks like I'm joining the club!

It may have been a confident explicit reply, but incorrect as others have experienced from Nationwide.

My own transfer to Nationwide has gone pear shaped. Account was closed and transferred from NS&I on 7 May. After continually chasing Nationwide for progress, I discover today that whilst the transfer form has been received, the cheque is missing. Nobody apparently felt it necessary to query this during the last three weeks.

On contacting NS&I, I’m told that transfer documentation and cheques are issued from different departments and sent SEPARATELY to the new provider.

    I’m even more convinced that these institutions couldn’t organise a cat’s confinement….

What they may mean is that u cant transfer any more ISAs to the same fixed rate ISA account, you can however open as many Nationwide fixed rate accounts whether ISA or non ISA as u wish.

It wouldnt be possible for you to have all your ISA(s) in one fixed rate account ( pot) because the transfers would arrive at different times to your 3600 new money investment.

What u need to do is complete a seperate fixed rate ISA account application + transfer in application for last years ISA that u wish to move to Nationwide. ( I transferred 3 ISA(s) to Nationwide and completed 3 ISA application forms + 3 transfer in forms, all the transfers arrived at different times so it was obvious that they couldnt be all part of the same one year fixed rate ISA.
