More encouraging news: My mum went into their Branch to open a Fixed Rate Bond just with new year's money. (She was an existing ISA holder) They took the cash from her NW savings instantly and managed to open her new account in about 4 days!!

Just an update on my situation,

They seem to now have a scan of my application, made on the 2nd of May, ~24 days after filling in the form at my branch. However, luckily, I asked about the transfer time from the other provider and they replied that I have to contact my old provider to send them the cheque, ie Nationwide will not ask them.

So it seem you will have to do some of the paperwork if you want the transfer done quick. Nationwide may not ask the other provider even though the application form say they will. I'll keep you posted on the outcome.

That seem right as she is not trying to transfer ISA money from another provider. If you are opening an account with just this year's allownace then the branch can do it on the spot on the same day.

I went in with a cheque from another account for my 08/09 ISA and a transfer from another Nationwide account for my wifes 08/09 ISA and neither are yet open.

Still I suppose they have only had a month so far, so plenty more months left before April 09/10 ISA

    Transferring your ISA to Nationwide

To transfer a cash ISA to Nationwide from another ISA provider you need to complete and sign an ISA application form and ISA transfer form, which are available from any branch.

Take your completed forms to any Nationwide branch or post it to the following address and we’ll do the rest for you: ISA Transfers, Nationwide Building Society, Electra House, Farnsby Street, Swindon SN38 1ZX.

Once we receive your transfer request, our ISA transfer team will forward your form to your current provider to arrange the transfer. Please allow up to 30 days for your transfer request to be completed.

When we receive your ISA funds from your current provider we will write to confirm that the transfer has been completed. If you have opened a new Nationwide ISA we will also send you your passbook or bond certificate.

You can transfer cash ISA funds from another provider to any of our cash ISAs. However, please bear in mind that if you opt for our Fixed Rate ISA Bond its rate may have changed by the time we receive the funds.

Nationwide seem to have a habit of losing applications - I did an ISA Transfer Form to transfer from Bradford and Bingley into the Nationwide Fixed Rate ISA in April 2007 - six weeks later nothing had come in the mail so I went to the branch to enquire and was told they had no record of my application form or transfer form which were stapled together and physically pushed through their letterbox. I had to fill out new forms and that time I physically handed them over in branch to a Nationwide employee with a covering letter stating that it required urgent attention as the first application had obviously been lost by them. It eventually got fully setup in July and was backdated to April.

Just checking emails I have received from them. What is wrong with the following:-

"If you wish to discuss you ISA transfer you will need to contact our 24hr Contact Centre on Tel 08457 30 20 10 between the hours of 9am-5pm"

:confused:No I don't. I didn't see that rule in anything I read on their pages (they've had a facelift on the website recently) and to be frank I didn't look any further. But they have opened the account anyway. It's worth checking if that rule still applies - and I shall go and have another look now

Lucky you. Many of us part transferred 1000.00 of our ISA money in until they launched the regular saver a few months ago which they exempted from the min 1000.00 requirement.

Has been in force for a very long time.

I sent my application and ISA transfer in on March 5th. March 27th I received the note saying they received the request and will open my account within 5 days of receiving transfer cheque.

On April the 10th Kent Reliance sent the funds to them. I know they have a backlog but it is now 3 weeks since they received the funds and still I have not heard anything from them. I just keep getting told their ISA team will get in touch with me.

Just an update, Ive received my certificate today, so in summary.

5th March, sent forms to Nationwide
10th April Kent Reliance sends funds to Nationwide
6th May Received confirmation from Nationwide account is open, with interest backdated.
