Application form problems opening a Nationwide fixed rate ISA

Anyone else having problems with Nationwide not receiving/registering any isa application forms since Apr 7 2008.

I filled and submitted a isa transfer request forms in my local branch on Apr 7. I did not receive any reply since that date so I called their Isa dept on Apr 23 to check the progress. They tell me they had not receive any applications from me. I go back to my loacl branch, explain the problem, they fill and submit a duplicate 2nd form.

1 week later, today, I call up again to check if my application was received. Nope. Nothing. Whats going on?????

I know they may have a backlog but they should at least opened and confirm the application as received. I have now lost nearly 1 month interest. I not keen on submitting a 3rd application as it too may get lost and further delay by another 30 days to open this isa account. I'm already a Nationwide member.

Anyone else in the same boat?? Does anyone know if thier internal posts get 'shelved' until they are ready to be processed?

  • Mine showed up on internet banking the next day.

My branch had a book with ready-to-give FRIsa Account Numbers which they write on your application form and then cross off on their book, which is presumably why it happened so quickly for me. Did your branch do this?

I submitted an application to my local NW branch in mid-February and I'm still waiting for it to be processed. I transferred in two ISAs. They've added one of the ISAs in, but I'm still waiting for the other.

Whenever I phone up I'm told different things. They have received the cheque from my previous provider (although they never quote me the same date twice when I ask them what date they received it).

Just yesterday I received an application form through the post asking me to complete it! I phoned up this morning to ask why. According to the person I spoke to it's because the dates on my previous providers' cheques were different, so I need an application form for both. I find this very hard to believe but I completed it and posted it this morning (with an accompanying letter making it clear that I already have an 0708 ISA with them and quoting the a/c number. This was not acknowledged on their letter. The person I spoke to could not explain why not. I suspect my second cheque hasn't been tied up with the first cheque and my original application - even though I've spoken to various staff about them on various occasions).

I realise they have been very busy but even taking that into account I have little reason to think they're anything but a shambles.

Good luck with them my friend.

I sent my application and ISA transfer in on March 5th. March 27th I received the note saying they received the request and will open my account within 5 days of receiving transfer cheque.

On April the 10th Kent Reliance sent the funds to them. I know they have a backlog but it is now 3 weeks since they received the funds and still I have not heard anything from them. I just keep getting told their ISA team will get in touch with me.

This will cheer you all up! I applied for four ISA transfers from Scarborough Building Society (for £100 each) to Kent Reliance, Progressive (N.I.), Scottish and Nationwide ('proud to be different') building sociecties. The first to receive the request was (you've guessed it) Nationwide - handed in branch on 12 April. Kent and Progressive forms were mailed the same date, whilst Scottish was applied for later - on 18th April

    Scores so far

Kent Reliance; write to Scar on 14th, Scar sends money on 17th, ISA open on 18th [7 days from receipt - no loss of interest]
Progressive; [no acknowledgment], Scar sends money 22nd, ISA open on 28th [opps! - probably 14 days from receipt]
Scottish; writes to Scar 22nd, Scar sends money 24th, ISA open 28th [probably 9 days from receipt]
    Nationwide [????]

No I don't. I didn't see that rule in anything I read on their pages (they've had a facelift on the website recently) and to be frank I didn't look any further. But they have opened the account anyway. It's worth checking if that rule still applies - and I shall go and have another look now

About 16 days ago I completed transfer forms for mine and OH's Nationwide Tessa and Isa Members bonds. We wanted the Tessa's and ISAs joined and placed in the Nationwide fixed rate bond. We were advised at the branch that the process is taking around two weeks.

I've just noticed on my online banking screen that the balances for my Tessa and ISA have disappeared. It looks that the transfers are in progress and am assuming letters will be sent out with details.

My brother is no good with money so when he wanted to transfer his NW instant access ISA to their fixed rate ISA at the end of March I went into the branch with him and told him what to say.
He still has not received back either passbook.

I went through this last year with Nationwide. I transferred my ISA to them and it took 8-12 weeks , they confirmed they received the cheque from previous provider but then took another few weeks to actually open the ISA. I spoke to Nationwide several times, wrote a couple of letters but it didn't move any faster! I did get interest back-dated. You'd think they learn by now but it looks like they are still ill-prepared for this very busy time!
