  • Watch you dont under estimate.

They overpay you and then you end up in arrears.

Yes, very important, this happened to us over several years when my husband was in and out of jobs, it's settled down now mind you as he is in permanent employment.
    Payment a day challenge: £236.69
    Jan Shopping Challenge: £202.09/£250
    Frugal Living Challenge: £534.64/15000
  • It is a set salary with no paid overtime so that shouldn't be an issue. At least I hope not.

What's to stop you saying your partner earns £10000 and using the £25000 income disregard rule?

£60k+ down to £22500 is a hell of a drop.

not someone sitting there guessing which considering the nature of the problem is very poor practice indeed.

Being polite and as courteous as possible, this board isn't full of HMRC benefits experts and you shouldn't have expected a 100% set in stone answer.

What is that and isn't it cheating?

Well, that's more generous than the OP is being!

OP - your income for this year will be £22,500 - you have said that already!

On that income, you should only be getting the basic element.

If you are getting more (provided there is no childcare or disabilities) then how? Have you deliberately given a lower figure, as you say you have given an ESTIMATE, even though you have told us what your OH will be earning?

I have double and treble checked, change of circumstance means that our CTC goes upto this figure. They work out on previous years earnings but if you give them an ESTIMATE of this years income they adjust the CTC accordingly. Yes we have had proper advice now and not someone sitting there guessing which considering the nature of the problem is very poor practice indeed.

If the OP already has the answers and is a 100% sure they are right I am not sure why they have come on the board and asked any questions:confused:

None of us here are experts and none of claim to be. We give suggestions from our own situations. And the information we glean from government websites.

    All the best

  • We wanted help with what we would be entitled to and some of you are simply guessing, guessing is very very wrong and can affect peoples lives. As I didn't get an answer on here (apart from one) that wasn't a guess I phoned the expensive phone number and spoke to them.

No that is using the correct figures.

That's not strictly true; many people who answer posts on here are employed byJCP/Benefits Agency etc and they vnbjmARE experts. Don't know whether this is the case here, of course.
