Who told you this? Are you 100% sure of this? Perhaps a little HB in the more expensive parts of the UK but CTB i cant see?
May be wrong though

Depends on where you are in the country. My brother has an annual income of £18,000, his girlfriend has recently just had a baby so is not earning.
They do not get any CTB or HB.
If we have to rent a house at £800PM that is over half our income, less bills that would leave us about £20PM for food.
As I said in a previous post I am on hold with the council now and will find out for sure but they offered to pay all our rent before.0 -

All your rent
Plus you get to keep all the £22500 for yourselves??
Something not quite right there surely???0 -

While we were on JSA. Are you always this argumentative about a subject that you obviously know very little about? I have spoken to the council and we ARE entitled to some help. They are working out the figures now and will let us know this afternoon.0 -

I know very little about? It's you who started this thread and asked the question
You never mentioned anything about JSA, you made it read like you were able to keep the full £22500 income and receive full HB.
You should word your posts better and then there wouldn't be any confusion would they?0 -
You may get help with your rent if your OH is on JSA, but he isn't any more!
On your (stated) income of £22,500, you will be entitled to the basic element of ctc and that is likely to be it.
The only way you will receive HB is if you live in a very expensive area, but it will not anywhere near cover your rent of £800PM! You have been told wrong.
They may pay your rent in full for the time your OH was unemployed though - I don't know if that is what you mean?0 -

I said some help with HB not all of it. Also we are entitled to about £60 in CTC. I was looking for informed help. Thank you to the one person that provided that.0 -

So you had an income of over £60,000 until January of this year and went three months with JSA. Making your 07/08 income roughly £45,000.
Now you have an income of £22,500 (basically from the start of the new tax year) and you are entitled to £60 a week ctc?
I'm not sure how that is tbh. You may want to double check because I'm fairly sure you are in the basic element bracket (which would be around £20 a week), assuming you don't claim for childcare or have any disabilities.
Of course, I may not know what I'm talking about...0 -
I have double and treble checked, change of circumstance means that our CTC goes upto this figure. They work out on previous years earnings but if you give them an ESTIMATE of this years income they adjust the CTC accordingly. Yes we have had proper advice now and not someone sitting there guessing which considering the nature of the problem is very poor practice indeed.0

Watch you dont under estimate.
They overpay you and then you end up in arrears.0
