Partners Income down by 2/3s due to credit crunch

Hi,

I have been to entitledto.com but I find the website to be confusing. Our situation is this and if someone could help with some accurate figures that would be great.
My partner lost his job 31st January due to the credit crunch, the same role is now impossible to find and the money is no longer there. He has another role starting tomorrow but the pay is only £22500 P.A (a huge drop from £60k+). I need to work out what we can claim in the way of tax credits, child tax credits, housing benefit and council tax benefit. A court case is pending for a possession order on our house and even if I go back to work full time we will not be able to afford the mortgage.
We have 2 children of 4yrs and 20months
So income is approx take home
£331 PW
Child Benefit
£31.35 PW

£362 total

No other income.

Thanks

  • OK, according to entitled you should be entitled to some tax credits, your actually on the same money as we are so I would give them a call today and notify them of your change of circumstances.

We don't get council tax benefit though as earning too much apparently but you can but try.

You really need to do the entitled thing yourself, try it and if you need help I'll talk you through it.

Doubt you'll receive any HB or CTB on a wage of £22500. You should see some CTC, but not much.

Do you know this for sure or are you just guessing? I know that we can claim both CTB and HB because we have 2 children and our house will be repossessed. I am just looking for rough figures so I can do some planning. I will speak to the council later today about it all.
  • Did you get the PM I sent you?

Depends on where you are in the country. My brother has an annual income of £18,000, his girlfriend has recently just had a baby so is not earning.

They do not get any CTB or HB.

Yes I did, thank you very much for your help. Was going to reply but on the phone to the council. Will let you know how I get on.
