:hello: Evening all, a NSD for us today.

Had a good cooking day yesterday on my day off.
Made a batch of twinks and added some dried ginger and some mixed fruit. Got 48 out of the mix:D . About 1/3 have already disappeared although OH says he is not guilty.
Also made some vegetable soup using up odds and ends plus some soup and broth mix.
Have given 2 large portions to my mum and the rest is either going to be eaten today/tomorrow or frozen.
While the oven was on I made rice pudding and also made a coffee cake which has gone into the freezer. There was abit too much mix so I use the rest up in some muffin cases and baked. They also turned out well and are now in the freezer.

Am hoping to keep away from the shops for the rest of our challenge which finishes on thursday as we have got plenty of food to last.
will keep my fingers crossed.;)

Hi everyone,
Although I am new to posting on the Forums, I have been around just 'watching' for about 12 months. I had a big operation on 7th May, and am going to be off work until early July, so now I'm home recuperating, with lots of time to spare, it seems like good time to get my O.S. savings skills well and truly honed in, as I might not be able to work for much longer, and that would mean a HUGE loss of income, as we would then only have our pensions to live on.
I haven't set a target for my May Grocery spend, as I have never known how much I've spent before now. I've kept a record this month, so I think I can start for June with £300. I can't quite figure out how to register my challenge, and how it works....can someone guide me through the 'routine'.
Thanks everyone.:o
Feb. G.C. From Jan 26th £350.00

Hi All,

Just caught up with all the posts

Thanks for this Angelnikki, excellent idea - can't really complain that they eat the bananas, as they are good for them, but with them being so expensive, i'd like to be able to do something more lasting with them, if you get what i mean...

Two things - numnumnumnum on the shortbread and excellent idea on the upside down pastry cutter...:T

Mrs M Not finished this month yet, but could you put me down for the same for June please -£300 / £75 pw I will be over budget this month, but know where i have gone wrong so hopefully will be on budget next month - I'll keep trying anyway!

Have just got back from working at a showhome all day (paid £150 for it, but no new work. :j )and gave up and got DH to pick up KFC on his way home, as really needed junk tonight :o . Have got a massive headache and need to go out as I'm on the committee of our local club and we have a 'school disco' tonight - I'm 45 and they want me to dress up as a st.trinian - NOT GONNA HAPPEN!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: I'll scare off all the members!!!!

Also trying to type with false nails on, as i had to look presentable today - not used to them any more and have used my backspace button about 60 times so far:rotfl: still, looks pretty and hubby likes it when i tickle his back & neck with them (now now, nothing like that!)

Off now to take some strong tablets and have a lie down before i attempt to go out - will update siggy tomorrow.
Den x

denisefowler you can put bananas in the microwave (with skins on) for 5-10 seconds to soften them up. Saves buying them ripe/overripe. (be careful when you peel them though) I learnt this tip when I was weaning DS. HTH
Hi Le Foot Welcome to the challenge :hello:

If you put your budget in red MrsM will add it to her list that goes on the first page of the month's challenge.

You can set up a signature to keep track of your spends on. Go onto where it says Quick Links (near the Log Out Button) and in the User Control Panel it says Edit Signature

I'd recommend reading this if you havent already - Supermarket Shopping: Halve your weekly bill by beating the system

Good Luck with your first month :)
