  • Tattycath - your wish is my command!

i got it from on here but can't remember who posted it originally,

    "Banana Muffins
    9oz (250g) plain flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
    1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
    3 large ripe bananas
    1 egg
2 1/2 oz (70g) brown sugar (can use caster instead)
    2fl oz (50ml) vegetable oil
1oz raisins (i used mixed dried fruit)

I also added some milk to make the mixture a bit slacker, it was quite thick.

sieve the flour, baking powder, bicarb, salt, cinnamon and nutmeg and put to one side.

Place the bananas in a bowl and mash, i used my hand mixer but you can use a fork.
Add the egg, sugar and oil and mix well.
Add the dry ingredients and mix well again. Finally mix in the fruit.
    Fill muffin cups 2/3 full.

    Bake at 190oc/gas 5 for 20/25 minutes."

Was in Mr T's earlier and paid on self scanner-had to use up a Tesco MOC coupon so I bought some stuff off June shopping list. Also used a coupon for something I didn't buy and there was no problem at all. MOCs that start with a 99 bar code should be taken at any major supermarket.

not sure about the cakes, but i always put the hob nobs in a freezer bag and freeze them like that. they don't stick together or anything and then you can just take out what you need
i think the cakes are ok to freeze if they aren't iced but i'm not sure

spendaholic One of the Board Guides starts the thread on the 28th/29th of the month. They need to do it to make it a sticky. And if its done at the same time each month MrsM knows when to look out for it so she can get the list on the first page.

mumzyof2 you can freeze muffins/cakes in their cases fine. Just put them in a freezer bag/box and freeze like that.

I used the recipe "ifonlyitwereasier" has put up.
You can freeze cakes plain or iced easily. I put 4 into a sandwich bag and tie them up. Lay them flat so they dont all freeze together then I can remove them singly as needed.
Just ate a muffin. Perfect-one of the best recipes Ive tried for muffins!
The bran flake bread improved in moistness after freezing I found-its better than the first one and I made them both together!
Again-I just wrapped it and plonked it in the freezer.
Just been to Somerfield and got some whoopsies in fruit and veg. They gave me bogof on clementines even though they had been reduced to 25p per net. Got some whoopsied chick/veg pies too at 72p. May give hubby one tonight I think. Kept to my list totally and spent just over £14. Sugar is 87p per bag in there though! If I'd had time I would have popped down to Iceland.
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
