I'm so fed up. My husband got paid today and he got a bit extra due to overtime etc. I got all excited thinking I could put it on my credit card-which i'm desperate to pay off. Now he's said to me that he wants to buy some DVDs.
It is the fact that the first thing he thinks of is himself....always... when it come to money. He wants prison break season 2 on dvd. Amazon have got it for £30. BUT if we have a spare £30 I always put it towards bills.
I feel like he always gets to buy stuff or go out with his friends and I don't get anything.
If I say that to him, he says I should buy myself something...but I don't want to. I'd rather pay off my credit card...and so it goes on...
Just a bit of a winge really.
Does anyone else have this problem?

Yes, I bet around 75% or more of couples will be in a similar boat. Hang in there, and try the art of gentle persuasion...if that don't work, pass the chainsaw
Seriously, I know what you're on about. I never put myself before the family when it comes to finances, and it can be frustrating sometimes when those around you don't seem to see the longer-term view that being debt-free asap is the best long-term solution for you all, and anything you can do to help achieve that is another small victory.
Keep working on him until he achieves Light-Bulb moment - let's face it, once nipper comes along, you'll need every penny you can get......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
Hi, as Gunjacj says, keep nipping away. The realisation will soon dawn when the little one comes along. Please dont be depressed honey. Its not good for you when you have a baby on the way. Post tomorrow hun and we will see if we can help you. And GJ, i hope you are either going to work very early or you have been doing a night shift like me. Its far to early to be up otherwise.Night Owl Member No 1 :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi Try snowballing to show him what that debt REALLY costs and also do a search to see if you can get the DVD cheaper, and show him the results after he has bought it.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

I'm going to try again to show him the bills etc. and get him to realise what it's costing us...2022 Comp total (prizes + free spins): £494.81 #20 £12 a day Jan: £382.95/£372 #57 360 1p challenge: £17.70 £10 a day Feb: £571.09/£280 March: £311.96/£3100

and if you can get it for 15 quid then you've 15 quid off the card bill0 -
Not sure about depressed; you should hold your head up high and feel embarassed for him.
Prison BReak on DVD???
If it was me, I'd sell the DVD player and see how he likes it.
The man needs to get a grip and take responsibility.0
