Advice for impending caesarean?

Hi, Not read the other threads so I might be repeating what has already been said. For the first few weeks I had to sleep with my head and chest raised to allow me to sleep because I had a heavy chest. also buy 3 bottles of camomile lotion if you are having an epidural with the CSection because for the first 2 days you will be itching like mad and the lotion really helps. You just dab it on you body with cotton wool.
Get your partner to take two weeks off paternity leave then followed by 2weeks off holiday. You will need his help while you recover from the C-Section.
Don't invite anyone round at the begining, unless they are going to help out (do a bit of house work, shopping, baby care).. You will have very little energy to entertain and will need all your energy to look after your baby and yourself..
Also forget the house work. until you have some energy & time.
If a family member can stay with you for a month or so that would be wonderful.“…the ‘insatiability doctrine – we spend money we don’t have, on things we don’t need, to make impressions that don’t last, on people we don’t care about.” Professor Tim Jackson

hi flikkerty! congrats on impending birth!
i have had 4 c-sections, all my children were born that way and all elective. firstly concentrate on the fact that YOU carried your baby, and however he/she happens to arrive shouldnt be the issue, just as long as the baby arrives safe and sound. put your faith in the surgeons, they are there to answer all your questions and address any worries/fears you may have.
you can ask to see your baby as soon as it is born, and get the midwifes to hold baby close to you to give him/her a kiss! the best bit!
you will be sore afterwards....dont be brave! take the pain relief!!!!!!! knickers that go right over your tummy are better than ones that will sit on and irritate your scar.
when asked to remove the dressing put on after surgery.....DO IT STANDING UP IN THE SHOWER! thats probably the best advice i can give lol.
you can get a bit windy afterwards peppermint water is great for that!
dont do too much when you get home, take it as easy as you can and listen to your body telling you to slow down. rellies that can help are wonderful, take them up on every offer going! let them do the housework while you snuggle with your new baby!
hope this help!! and good luck!November NSD's - 70 -
congratulations!
even though they say you 'cant' drive for 6 weeks in some cases its cobblers. i had an emergency c section 15th sept and i was driving again 16days after. i cleared it with my insurance company and providing my dr was ok about it, it was fine.
the dr gave me the go ahead over the phone. a week after my section i was up and about doing everything anyway, the only thing i wasnt doing was taking my 2yr old to nursery.. i do still suffer with blinking wind though or as my dd says 'bum bubbles' lmaoIt only seems kinky the first time.. :A0 -
I have to say I have been up and about doing bits of housework (can't have a less than pristine loo or will get the madness) and we have been out shopping here and there. This is when the baby is settled mind you... lots of burping, gurning, squarking and phlegm going on! I feel much better now she is out due to the sickness and rotten pregnancy, it would be a cruel blow to have anything else unpleasant! She is doing well though I believe and we have taken to it much better than I expected. It's all new though isn't it. It's a good time all in all...0
