my husband took that pic yesterday to take into work for the lady whose mother knitted the cardi for us :D yesterday he wore the cardi around town and i got stopped by loads of people to fuss over him and say how lovely and rare it is to see a baby in something hand knitted. i'll put his cardis on more often, it meant i got people falling over themselves to hold doors open for us, bring my coffee over to the table, help us onto the bus etc. that's my tip of the week, put the baby in a granny-knitted cardi and you'll have as much help as you need when you're out and about :D

i want to hear how flikkerty got on, i suppose it will be a few days. fingers crossed for a fast recovery :D

  • I've just remembered that a little stool by the washing machine helps for when it's time to get back to the grind...

(I used it to put my feet up when I was pregnant, then when I was struggling with back pain and now it's waiting for my son to use to reach the loo and sink. I think it cost about £1)

And my son has knitted jumpers and cardies too. You're right. They're a hit!

And when oh when will the forgetfulness ever go away? I can't find my trainers anywhere and I want to hang out the nappies.

my problem with knitted cardis was that everyone thought my son was a girl when he wore his!! even when totally dressed in blue. once he even had a bib on that said baby boy.
Cleaning the house while children are growing is like shovelling snow when it's still snowing!
  • Well, we're back!!!
What an experience that was...! cor blimey!
Verity Rose was born on Wednesday weighing in at 6lb 2 oz, bright as a button
and fit and healthy. Great news considering the hyperemesis, dodgy blood results, infections and all sorts of sickness pills etc..
Got back yesterday after the op which went well but my recovery didn't, I was a bit delirious but the baby is well and that was my main concern.
I found lifting her in and out of the cot at night extremely difficult and the midwives a bit scarce on the ground to help at times. By friday I looked possessed so I was given a lot more care and my husband stayed over saturday night to help with the lifting and settling of the baby.
In general I received very good care from the midwives and was very grateful.
Got my sexy string pants on, they are ace!
The baby is a little corker, we are over the moon,
Thanks for the best wishes and advice, I was looking forward to telling you all,
    Flikkerty.

  • Congratulations.

Now make sure you take it very easy over the next few weeks. Your scar will be your guide, as soon as it starts to hurt, stop what you are doing.

Go out for short walks literally to the end of the road and back and increase them gradually.

Whatever you do, forget the housework and get everyone else to cook and get drinks for you. These next few weeks and months are the most precious ever, even if you have another baby you won't have the time to enjoy it as much as the first, so sit back as much as baby will allow and enjoy.

I don't once regret not keeping up with the housework, I look back on the first six months with my baby and don't regret a moment.

Have fun and take lots of photos!
