With a little kick in the butt from Jo I have completed my self assessment. I owe them the grand total of 78p, so that £1,000 I paid them 'in advance' last year was a bit of an overestimation on their part  Of course, the next dilemma is claiming that back as a rebate - will the OR want it, or will I get to keep it??
I had booked off tomorrow so I could get down to doing the online form without my lil monster around, but now it seems I am free and clea for the morningr!! :T So I think I will visit a few of the second hand furniture shops cos I need a little computer desk, and a wardrobe Can't buy it cos need to get into the house and measure up, but since the move is only a week away it would be good to know where I can go for this stuff.
Not tired but think it's time for bed so I can face my free morning fresh and clear!
If you need stuff for your new place, Brighton freecycle has lots going on:hello:Save a little money each month and at the end of the year you’ll be surprised at how little you have.An eye for an eye only ends up making the whole world blind0 -
Hi MG
re the tax rebate.
If the tax office work at there usual speed (a snail) then your tax rebate will come after AD/ED:rolleyes:
You do have to mention it on the forms -section 3.4, money owed to you.
I've heard of quite a few occasions where the OR hasn't bothered and has allowed them to keep the money.
Enjoy your morning off.The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter0 -

Whoops!!!!!:o I've already clicked submit - is it too late to change that now?!
And thank you - would be lovely to think I could claim it back and it be all mine!!

Well had a seriously chilled morning. Popped round to a friend's house and listened to music and chatted - no one tugging my ankles wanting attention, pure quiet!! I better sign up with freecycle again - thanks Waspy!Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

Hi Merry
Have been reading your thread..well done for taking all of this on. I have just become 'undischarged' by the OR and can honestly say going BR (£41000) was the best, and looking back, the only thing I could have done. I went bankrupt last year and lost everything (house, car, even the kids as they have had to live with their dad as I had to move in with my pensioner dad) and the stress leading up to the court day meant I ended up in hospital after having a nervous breakdown...but hey, guess what? I woke up the day after going to court and the world hadn't stopped..what had stopped was the pestering from banks, the sleepless nights, the big pile of post left unopened, the fact that all my waking hours were spent trying to solve an impossible problem. To cut a long story short, I've now got a clean slate, I've got my life back, I can handle the stigma of being a bankrupt (its not as bad as you think!), and I can now hold my head up. I know you are having a stressful time but you are so positive and energetic- take it from me, everything will work out and you will get through all of this and come out the other side. Posting my discharge form back to the OR yesterday has let me draw a line under all of this for good and I find myself in such a good place today- it won't be long before you feel the same I promise!
Let me know if you need any help- I've been there!0 -
Eselt, what an absolutely lovely first post - thank you so much :hello: I've been on the wrong side of a breakdown (not fun
), so the fact that you're up, at it and helping others just shows how incredibly strong you are :beer:

Thank you for your thank you!!!:j (God that sounds ridiculous!!!).:j Keep going girl, you're doing a brilliant job...it really shows the measure of you that you are being so proactive and not just letting the problems build up hoping they will go away, and you are able to offer such supportive messages to others...the way you are going with this thread I wouldn't be surprised if they make a film about you in the near future!!! I don't think you realise how your thread is affecting people...the hits say it all. Good luck with everything... I see there has been some chat about holidays, I now live in Par Cornwall (next to the Eden Project, overlooking the beach, next to Fowey) so if things are a little tight and you fancy a free holiday let me know- you are more than welcome (its a big old house with 5 bedrooms so there is loads of room).
Cheers Eselt0 -
