I do paid surveys, cashback/points reward sites, rate websites, product testing, mystery shopping, sell old stuff online and at car boot sales, scanning my shopping, focus groups, competitions, receiving snail mail, and i run a website http://www.ilovefreebiesuk.net all about how to earn from home and get free stuff! It was fairly easy to make (and i was a complete beginner!) I first started creating the content in word, as i didnt have or know about free website design software. I managed to get hold of frontpage and just played about with it and just copy and pasted the content over.

Something like Frontpage is good in that you dont have to know html, it converts it all for you. Timewise, i could have cut lots of corners, but i wanted it to be, just so. So I've put in a lot of hours and it took months of work to research and create it. But i'm really pleased with it as a first attempt and others seem to think so too, which is fantastic. Especially when they go out of their way to say so. It never fails to cheer me up! :)

  • Im sure IM doing something wrong Ive been on a few survey sites that pay you to do the survey but dont seem to get very far oand not clesr on how you claim cash or points you earn also I dont want to buy anything in order to gain I just want to do the surveys ,please can you give me any tips from a newbie who just wants to earn a bit of pocket money
I fill in online surveys over lunch at my desk.

So far this year I've collected about 200 quid in vouchers for places like Boots and Amazon. The beauty of it is that if you don't want the voucher you can usually flog it on eBay.

www.pureprofile.co.uk, www.ciao.co.uk, http://gb.lightspeedpanel.com and www.yougov.co.uk all pay out regularly - the latter less frequently.

www.sarosresearch.com also run focus groups which pay substantially more - anything to about 200 quid for half a day of your time.
  • set up a new email address and only use it for surveys, you can get a free one on MSN, thats what i did. If you do get alot of junk then at least its not clogging up you own personal email address.

I was just wondering about this working on ebay thing. If you want to buy stuff in to sell on, or even lets say it was your own ebooks you sold, how does this work if you are on benefits? How do you go about from being on benefits to being in an ebay business, even if it might be a relatively small venture that makes pocket money as opposed to huge amounts and that you are not doing for a set amount of hours each day. Any input or experience of this would be appreciated.
Apologies up front if I've got this on the wrong thread.

If you generate an income from selling on Ebay you're legally required to register with HM Revenue and Customs as being self employed. The impact of this on your benefits will depend on the benefits you receive. You'd be best to check with the agency who handles your benefits as it ultimately depends on how much income you generate.

You'll also be required to submit an annual tax return. This can be quite time consuming and tricky if you aren't financially savvy. It could be a lot of hassle for little reward. The good news is that you still get your annual tax-free earnings allowance just as someone in employment would.

Of course, there's a lot of people who sell on Ebay who don't pay any tax and haven't informed the Revenue of their income from this source. This is, of course, illegal and, were you to be caught, would be liable for prosecution. The Revenue can request information from Ebay about your activities if they wish and have started to clamp down on Ebay sellers in recent years.

I have been reading this thread for the last three days and loving it! I'm wondering if I could find someone who wants to advertise on the side of my Silver Cross pram : )
it'd be a good investment for them - everyone stares at it and comments on it, and I do a lot of walking around town, maybe i should approach online nursery equipment shops! I already do Avon, OK not great money but the exercise is good and I enjoy having a natter, oh and it's paying for my driving lessons : )
I have come here to chew bubblegum and kick @ss.... and I'm all out of bubblegum.

At the moment my monthly salery is not taxable as is below the tax bracket. If I earn a few pounds here and there is there a limit before I have to declare or do I declare it all. For example Ive signed up to do a little mystery shopping and surveys. Also I sell on ebay every now and again. Does anyone have any advice on this??

    Hi

I have just received an invitation to Consumer Intelligance. I signed up ages ago but was told there was nothing in my area at that time and they would be in touch and they are today woooohoooo.

I also use alot of the survey sites that have been mentioned on here, my fave is Lightspeed. This is a great website and great threads keep it up all!!
