Good for OH. I'm sure being happy in his work will give him the energy he needs to bring in the extra money. And with two salaries (even if one is low) you are better off than you were most of last year.

How infuriating about the bank charges. £30 a time??? I thought a ceiling had been set at £12.

Re bank charges - it is the credit card charges that are capped at £12....the banks are still able to get away with daylight robbery sadly. I still have my claim in for £4000 (and ever rising) but of course that is in the hands of the courts now.......

Re the job, yes, it is a definite start - at least I can sit down and work out the new SOA and do some really harsh budgets. My brainstorming pad will get a bashing tonight (inbetween free b!ngo buying, and checking items ending on ebay of course  )

We may be able to squeeze some useful bits out of it, such as the fact that he will be working in the city, so we could share a car in, if that is cheaper than getting the bus......he will have parking at work, so nothing to pay there, just the petrol to get in and out.

    Hi Hypno

Good news (I think!) about your OH's job! Like you say, at least it is SOMETHING! (Could do with some of that in my house!!)

Good luck to him with finding something else to supplement it!

It seems that as everyone is tightening their belts there simply isn't the same amount of work out there. Hugs to you and best wishes towards your DH and Pigginskints OH. They do both seem to be trying...........

I was looking for another job (want to do something totally different) but decided to stay put for as long as I possibly can.

big fat jammie dodger shaped hugs for you my dear.

I've just been trying to catch up and it all sounds really pooey for you at the moment.

I've no words of wisdom but just to say, you are so very strong and determined and lets hope that the positive step of OH getting a new job will be the start of better things 2 come.....

and big fat raspberries (not the tasty ones either!) to the banks who are just downright evil for this kind of behaviour!

    ooh, jammie dodgers.........yum :D

I think the problems over the last few weeks are because I am a bit of a control freak.....just a bit.....and this situation was out of my control. Normally when something goes wrong, or not according to plan, I can work through it on a practical level.....but of course only HE could sort himself out a job, and an income, and I just had to wait.....and nag.....and wait a bit more......and try the silent treatment......and blah blah blah!!!!

So, now that he has something, especially something he WANTS to do, I can get back to controlling things again...

it is a shame that being a control freak does not extend to my housework......one area of my life I cannot control :o

Well that sounds positive Hypno. As you say you now have definite figures to work with, not the figures you'd like, but definite. How much less will the new salary be, ie what sort of "shortfall" as compared to the old job? If you don't mind the question. (Obviously ignore if you do)!

What you really need now is a court ruling against the banks re charges. Any chance of sweettalking the banks into reducing or removing the 2 x £30 charges? Or could you get the language school topay early or at least an advance? But you probably don't want to do that and would have done so already if you did.
