Usually true.......but not always....!!
eg using cable access No 08081708708 for Spain is 1p/min, whereas a BT line user dialling 1899 before a Spanish No would pay 2p/min!0 -

I have never had a problem with them and will not concern myself on how long they can provide calls for a 3p connection charge. This is up to them but in the meantime I;m enjoying the savings. Also this is a subsidary of Swiss Telecom.
Are you saying that 1899 is owned by Swiss Telecom what proof do you have please?PF.0 -
I agree that's what their website says but has anyone found this to be true as it doesn't make sense to me because surely its cheaper for Call1899 if we dial their 1899 number rather than a freephone number that's why Call18866 doesn't do 0ppm to geographical calls on their freephone number but only via their 18866 number.fbrj wrote:Usually true.......but not always....!!

Yes.bbb_uk wrote:I agree that's what their website says but has anyone found this to be true .....<snip>
After 1899 put their price up for calls to Spain from 1p/minute to 2p/minute using the prefix, I changed to using their 08081708708 cable landline access number and it did, bizarrely as it may seem, take the price back down to 1p/minute.
Not having an Orchid dialler though, it was quite an awkward procedure so, when 18185 came on the scene, I changed to using them for calls to Spain despite their higher connection charge because I could program the whole 18-digit number (i.e. including the 18185 prefix), into my DECT cordless phones.Their - possessive pronoun (owned by them e.g. "They locked their car").
They're - colloquial/abbreviated version of 'They are'
There - noun (location other than here e.g. "You can buy groceries there") OR adverb (in or at that place e.g. "They have lived there for years") OR adverb (to or towards that place e.g. "Go there at noon") OR adverb (in that matter e.g. " I agree with you there").0 -
Thanks for that. Still seems weird and doesn't make sense from what I can see.April2 wrote:....Yes.

With regard to your Orchid problem I would have just setup another override but state it used Call1899 via their freephone number rather than their 1899 number.
For example, they already have an override of 121 which is probably setup to go back to BT so I would have just added another override like 123 (just a guess and don't know if this number can be used) and set up the carrier for this 123 to be Call1899's freephone number.
Therefore for those calls to spain you could specifically just dial 123 > and the spain number which would then be routed via the freephone number. Obvously dialling spain number without 123 would route it via 1899 normally.0 -
Of course you can set a route in your Orchid Dialler for Spain (0034) to use whichever variant of call1899 you want and leave your default international (00) route. Nothing's stopping you having the same carrier defined twice - once using 1899, once using the 0808 number....There are 10 types of people in the world, those that understand binary and those that don't
In many cases it helps if you say where you are - someone with local knowledge might be able to give local specifics rather than general advice0 -

Although it may not make sense, it probably is true. I haven't tried Spanish numbers via the freephone (wish I had known about it when I needed to call Spain) but remember that although 18866 don't do 0ppm to geo numbers on their freephone number, 1899 do. My father uses the 0808 access no. for 1899 when dialling out on his Telewest cable line for geo calls and does get the 0ppm as stated on their website http://www.call1899.co.uk/mobilerates.php. It's just another of those anomalies between 0808 and 18xx and between the different 1899/18186/18185 etc services.0
