suggs - 5 miles in 46 mins is really really good. I did 5km in 31 mins and 26 secs (!) last night - my fastest time to date and it seemed very fast and you were faster...well done.

BB glad you're OK! Well done to you and MrBB. Just a suggestion and it probably wouldn't work, but could you and his family do something other than a meal on Friday if it means being picky about what you'll be eating? I asked for my birthday meal to be put "on hold" until I feel I'm in a position to eat whatever I want when I do go, and my family understand that (though my snail's pace means it'll probably be someone else's birthday before we get around to it!)quote]
Thanks for the idea missyg: a no goer, and that's ok. OH's mother hard work as it is and has set her heart on this meal. And she'll get in into her head that we're not eating 'properly' (or I'm not feeding OH properly:rolleyes: ) and it will be fuss fuss fuss and cross examination about it all. And honestly - it's an easy way to spend time with her - any other ideas rely on me being the entertainment & organiser and it's exhausting (lovely but quiet dad and OH, demanding mother) OH's family couldn't organise the proverbial if you handed them a brewery and a thirsty rugby team:D . So we're going for the meal as it will make her happy & therefore our life easy.
Vix -sounds good to me at 21 not going down the credit card route. My boss who's an IFA doesn't have one at 46 - she believes you should develop the habit of saving for what up want (excet for mtgs obviously). Do you reguarly save a little of your income each month though? With the way mtg's are going, 100% are no longer an option and a deposit would be a great achievement. Put it in a tax free ISA with max interest. Even if it's not much it would snowball each month.
Sorry the weather has curtailed your options missyg - it's vile here too so we're not going walking. Have spent a pleasnt few hrs in the kitchen preparing meals/ lunches for the next few days. Just had lushious (sp)moist SW carrot cake hot from the oven. Yum.
Pohbear - you are doing so well. Next March will soon be here, especially with lots of mini goals passed on the way. Slow off slow back on. Pinklipgloss - you sound really poorly: look after yourself like missy says.
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once

Oh I agree 100% with only buying what you have money for now and am right behind vix on that one, but really feel that

... should come with the inevitable asterisk*. It's good moneysaving to take someone else's free money.

    * Unless you're using that credit card to take money from the banks and put it into your pocket.

But I think it takes an very consistantly organised brain to make money rather than slip into paying interest: you are obviously very good at it :D .

Ajax/Victory, yes I think it is some sort of third party vendor arrangement I've seen on Play.com (which may or may not be what Annie has seen - perhaps they were in stock at normal price when she looked).

I was all ready to do an hour's free step or free jogging when son emerged from his den wanting to play something else :p It's no wonder my exercise is suffering this week! (Yeah I know I'm a softie... but it's his week off and I can catch up another time).

Vix, it's great that you live within your means. It's true if you have the time/inclination you can play the system and gain more money but the main thing is you're not getting into any bad debt and that's going to set you up well for later on :) Are you still starting saving for your house?

KPC & Victory enjoy your respective movies tonight!

Efrieze well done on the personal best! That's a fantastic time for 5km, I have no idea how long it would take me to build up to something like that but I was WAY, WAY off it with my first attempt last week! You sound like a natural at running :D

Ouch Kat - you didn't need that setback... but your "ps" is very positive! Things will come together just fine, all this means is it will take a little longer than you thought, but you will get there!

BB I totally understand where you're coming from re families! ;) So have a lovely meal, I'm certain you know how to have a good time on maybe 75% of what you would normally choose (or whatever)!

Jacket potatoes with beans and cheese for lunch today :D How come some days it's SOOO easy to stick to low cals, but other days it's a right slog? (Hmmm, probably because I filled up too much the past 2 days...)

That's quite annoying. Someone probably bought 10 from Play and then stuck them straight back on there at £50 on top. I'm all for free markets and capitalism but it's somewhat irksome that the retailers aren't a bit more selective when the latest gotta-have kids toys are in drought. It's not as if they'd have them left on the shelves if they were limited to one sale per person is it?

Pah, I must be going soft.

I'm sure Annie must have seen the RRP.... unless you're absolutely loaded they can't be tempting at £120.

Brekky: 2 Warburtons wholemeal (HeB) with 1 Laughing Cow Light (part of HeA)
    Break: 1 satsuma, 1 banana
Lunch: Bachelors Pasta n Sauce, chillis, onions, Quorn fillets. 1 satsuma
    Break: 1 small mango
Tea: takeaway curry (within daily syns) + plain rice + 2 Warburtons wholemeal bread (HeB)
    Other HeA: milk in coffees

Thanks for all your replies guys and gals.
I did not know they were as cheap as the woolie price - I had only really seen them on PLay or Ebay and they were going for around £120. If I can get one for £70 I will and put remainder on CC debt. Otherwise I will wait until I can get one elsewhere at around same price.
Now can you buy online with woolies using paypal me thinks........

Just checked and you guessed...................out of stock. Blooming typical, now what!!???

Annie, the price victory quoted for woolies isn't a special or anything, it's the normal price. It's only because they are scarce at the present time that people are buying them and then reselling them at nearly double the price. If you look, they are third party resellers, like missy said. I'd just pop into your local gamestation, get known by the staff and call them every couple of days. You'll soon get one at the proper price. Alternatively, keep checking Argos online for all your local stores.

They are out of stock at the mo because all of the online shops are out of stock. If they weren't then the £120 ones wouldn't exist. Gte your face known at your local shops, take a kid along and tell him to cry - you'll soon get one reserved in the next batch that comes in.
