  • Just found a great site while looking for cats eye beads. Its a US site but the prices are really good. They have grade A cats eye beads starting at 74 cents (which i think is about 50p) for 100 and postage is flat rate of $5.00 to anywhere in the world (about £2.80 ish). I filled up my basket with nearly 3000 beads and findings and it came to just ver £25 inc p&p. Just need to find £25 lying about and im set! Might have to sell a few bits on ebay....

  • I love this thread, I visited a little while ago but have caught up on the new posts since then. Thanks to everyone who has posted places to get supplies, I'm always on the look out. I've gone mad recently and bought lots more supplies including some beautiful carved roses (can't wait for them to arrive). Anyway, I was wondering if someone knows where I'd be able to get some glass teardrop shaped pearls at a reasonable price? Ideally I would like them to be around 12mm in length.I've found some but they are plastic which I'd like to avoid...
    Finally bought a home

Customs is usually about 20 to 30 % of the value of the order, sometimes its worth getting together as a group, cos a lot of places do bigger discounts for the more you buy.

I have been beading away, have some of my stuff on a market stall on a sale or return basis and am booked in for a couple of craft fairs in November and December, am hoping for some decent sales, the website is getting plenty of hits, but not much in the way of sales at the moment
  • Yes Bobs I got my beads last week. Took about a week to get to me, which was pretty speedy, and they had marked them as 'gift' so no customs charges! They are excellent quality and they even threw in some bali spacers as a little gift. Will definitely be buying from them again!
Got myself a stall at a school shopping event at the beginning of december, and a freebie stall at my mum's works xmas fair, so working hard at getting some stock going. Also finally picked up some bracelet displays on ebay. I got two 2-tiered bracelet stands in white leatherette for £11-odd including p&p, so im waiting by the letterbox til they get here! Also got some really funky raised flower lampwork beads and some vegas-style charms (fruit machine, dollar bills, playing cards etc).

And something that has been drifting through my mind recently....what do you all think of poker chip beads? Like, say, if I got some small-ish poker chips and drilled through them, do you think it would work?

http://www.rubbernation.com/servlet/StoreFront ..... i had found this US site and couldnt believe the prices .... will maybe put in a small order and see how it goes .......maybe a smallish order wont attract customs.

Not sure about the poker chips .... it seems with me the things I throw together to bulk up my stall are the ones that sell ......

I have found that buying pre finished ribbon/cord necklaces at about 20p and then putting on a nice pendant ..... very little work involved .... sell really well!! Always gives me extra money for buying more beads... there are loads of great pendants for around a pound and they easily sell for £4/5. Not bad going.

I have just sold off all my summery coloured bits so have very little left and have two fairs coming up in November ..... and loads of friends looking for Christmas pressies .....

How much do you all pay for stalls at craft fairs???? There was one near me but they were charging £12 for a table that was smaller than a door. There was no way I could make enough profit to cover the stall price as the table would hardly hold anything! Is this the normal price and size of the tables??

BOBS - if you don't mind can you tell me where you are getting these from - 20p is a really good deal.

    Thanks

I paid £15 at a couple of fairs. The next one coming up is £10. If you use stands and prop up boards I find i can fit a fair wee bit onto a table .....
I usually find people dont mind if you bring another small maybe lower table for children's necklaces ..... just simply strung pendants or wee packs of beads for making at home ....I put them into small bags and pin to a cork board........ this should hopefully help your profits ... just depends what type of fair ....
You also maybe need to put your prices up a bit for the more expensive stalls
