OS Daily Thread, Saturday 26th April

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 26th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

OK, so I know it's before bedtime for some of you, but I've been asleep, woke up, am eating "breakfast" and am pretty sure I'm not quite sober yet :D
RacyRed:hello: What do we have to do to get you back on the Daily, with tales of the riverbank? You are sorely missed;) Sorry for going OT:o

Churchmouse, how can I say no to such an invitation? (I hope I don't get you into too much trouble ;) )

So... Tales from the river bank.

The coots have chicks.... again! 2nd brood this year :T The surviving "teenager" from the 1st brood isn't too impressed with all the screaming babies and appears to have decided to move out of the family nest and move in with... me!! Or should that be my Panny :rotfl:

I have a new bestest feathered friend - a solo swan. Poor bird was grieving so much when it first appeared a couple of months ago - swans mate for life, they just dont "do" solo once they are adult, so I'm guessing this one has lost it's mate. Whatever happened, It swims up for a nosh and a bit of chat late each evening and is calmer now than it was. And yes, all of my neighbours know I am totally nuts but relatively harmless, they should do, they talk to the swan too :D

Poor swan isn't allowed to sleep much though, the snaller birds sneak up on it and give it a good kick if it's not careful. But the swan soon discovered what else I'm good for... as a guard dog

I hope you all have a lovely Saturday, its meant to be the warmest day of the year so far today so the shopping, washing and housework can wait for rainy Sunday, I'm heading off to the park as soon as it is light to watch the new leaves unfurling and see which flowers are coming through. Busy day for me then:rotfl:

Hugs :j
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

Thanks so much!! S*d trouble, welcome home:D Huggies to you too:D

I recommend anyone suffering withdrawal symptoms like me, to check Racy's profile where there is a link to her homepage;) BUT don't do it until you have lots of time:rotfl: I've had to drag myself away. I could spend hours just concentrating on one or two photos:D

Well as I'm here may as well tell you about my Saturday, after I've been to bed:rolleyes:

My darling niece has invited us over for a BBQ tomorrow/today at lunchtime, so that will be great fun. I adore my nieces, they're the daughters I never had. They include me in everything and I'd walk over hot coals for them:D ( and they're nieces by marriage, not blood relatives. They say I'm their fav Auntie too:o )
There will be loads of children, including my DGSs and plenty of adults. We're getting a taxi there and back. I wonder why;) :rotfl:

Just hope the weather forecasters have got it right for once, it's supposed to be lovely sunny weather.

DH has been watching old films and playing CDs all night:rolleyes: For the really old amongst you one track was *Cookie, can I borrow your comb* or similar, which was referring to Cookie from 77 Sunset Strip:confused: Good job I'm years younger than him:rotfl: :rotfl:

Hope you all have a good Saturday.

(((hugs)))) to all that need them, especially Smoky and the children.

    CMxx

Just re-read your post RacyRed:D Wish all my friends were nice *nutty* like you:rotfl: :rotfl: I always feel for swans. Well remember my Dad saying swans mate for life. Do you think s/he'll find a new mate? Rotten to be on his/her own forevericon9.gif

    Morning all,

Am only up this early because I have to go to w**k! Otherwise would be still snoring away in sandman land.

Should be a good day today as I am in an inbound call centre and there's a couple of sporting events on today that should mean the phones go quieter. (gonna take a sudoku or two).

Talking about swans, the two here in Perranporth have finally settled down to nesting and we have 5+ eggs (couldnt get too close as father swan is very defensive). I just hope father swan sits on the eggs whilst mother swan is resting. He didnt do that last year and none of the eggs hatched. Took ages to get Her Majesties permission to dismantle the nest.

Anyhow, hugs to all who need. Here's hoping everyone has a lovely hot sunny day ahead. Catch you later

Morning. It looks to be a reasonable day out there.

I have the day off and I think we are going to Truro shopping. Don't really need anything, but it's a nice place to spend the day, eat a pasty and get a coffee.

Last night we had a drink after work. Several drinks I think. It was Wetherspoons, so good value. A nice Zebu steak as well. Cheap night out. I am not fragile today either.

Managed some fishing yesterday out of Fowey. Got several mackerel and a few other things. Nice morning sitting on the ocean.

Well better feed the chickens, ducks, fish, dog, rabbits, guinea pig,

    Cheers
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!

    Morning everyone!

Nice to see you again RacyRed and the riverbank tales! We must meet for coffee in the park and I can see these famous coots!

Glad it's gonna be sunny&warm today as I'm celerating my 5th Wedding Anniversary! Kids are going for sleepover at nanny's, and then DH and I will have the day to ourselves! Not sure what we are doing during the day, but this evening Dh has booked a lovely chinese restaurant overlooking the Docks, which is supposed to be fab!:D

Been busy last few days, trying to get all the jobs done at my sister's house, painting, gardening, shopping, and then getting bits for mum's flat for her return inspection!;) :D

Just been checking the Sydney flight info (Aussielass), as my mum is due to leave Australia, so early morning pick up for me tomorrow! Sydney airport weather is 24 Deg!! not bad for winter temperatures is it? Hope she's got me the obligatory kangaroo/koala bear T-Shirt;) :D

Time to go get the paper and another cuppa I think!

Have a great day everyone xx

Whoa! Too much info Shez - I think we can guess - Happy Anniversary 5th.

Not really early here is we are 1 hour ahead, off to watch the flower parades this morning, pack up this p.m. last night meal tonight, then back to France tomorrow.

((((hugs))) all round, managed to read yesterday's thread just before I went to bed and see lots are needed. Belated birthday/anniversary wishes to those missed, and welcome newbies. Martyn nice to see you brighter.

Went for a long drive round calling at some nice places yesterday, we have come to the conclusion there certainly isn't a water shortage problem in Holland:eek:

    Take care - DG

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Morning all! Racy, it's lovely having you back again, I've missed your watery anecdotes - we have a pair of swans nesting along our canal too - last year the local thugs kicked the nest to pieces before the eggs hatched  but this year they've chosen a better spot so fingers crossed. Apparently there are already some goslings around but I haven't seen them yet. I love it when the baby duckies are on the water, they are so cute.

The sun is already out here and it feels nice and warm, so hopefully we will get the promised lovely day. I have almost no petrol and I'm supposed to be driving some friends to a school reunion tomorrow  so I need to get out and see if there's a queue a mile long at the petrol station:rolleyes:

Congratulations to Johanne and her new little babe, and Auntie Nicki, and hugs to PP, Smokey, Martin and anyone else feeling sad or poorly.

Enjoy the sun while it lasts!
