    thanks for fast reply

I understand you feel angry. But this was only a one off...
I have paid insurance for my car but i had to sell it as i became a full time student and insurance was way too high, £2000..

The reason insurance is way too high is there are too many people like you that think its ok to drive without insurance.

saying that, its good to hear that no one was seriously hurt.

But i think you may have to pay your parents for the damage to their car.
Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?

i am a nice person but not perfect (who is) i just detest uninsured !!!!!! like op.reason being my daughter was knocked down years ago (not serious) by uninsured driver and surprise suprise he drove off without stopping.

UNINSURED DRIVERS =!!!!!!/SCUM OF THE EARTH

I accept this and essentially agree with it, but this isn't the time or the place for a witch hunt. The OP asked for advice, not for abuse. If you cannot give any advice then this isn't the thread for you.

BTW, to the OP, vaio and Altarf are the two posters who have actually given the most accurate and correct advice. Ignore what others might claim in terms of the liability of the third party being automatically avoided simply because you weren't insured. This is not the case.

    question for uninsured !!!!!!

if you had rta with parked car/moving car/pedestrian would you have

A !!!!ed off like most unisured !!!!!!

B stopped and tried to help like most insured drivers

Does it matter to you what i would do? Will you even believe me?? i dont think so,

But i'll answer you anyway...... I wouldnt have the courage to do a hit and run EVER!!
If i had caused a crash, insured or uninsured, first priority would be the people (always always always) not the cars. I wouldnt sleep at night having done something so serious......hitting someone and run?!... jesus that never crossed my mind not even for 1second!

Ill tell you more, after the crash i went to see how the woman was...she was crying but she was uninjured. Later on that day i went to her house to see how she was (but she wasnt in) i spoke to her a neighbour(that told me that the woman was ok) and then i gave him my telephone number to give it to the woman. (During all this time the woman didnt even ask if me and sis were ok ... she didnt know i didnt have insurance).

uninsured drivers add £30 to honest motorists' policies
That doesn't really sound a lot. The greed for insurers add much more than that to honest motorists' policies!

While I'm not condoning driving without insurance, the premium here is often ridiculous amount! May be govt. should encourage insurers to reduce their premium so that they can take less profit? This is similar to credit crunch. Bank gave away money to sub prime borrowers and now common public are paying for their greed.
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

    1) How does that relate to the OP's question, or have you encoded it somehow?
    2) would you have been happy about your daughter being knocked over if the driver had been insured?

I've just found out some info for you.

the fact that you know you were in the wrong, you can claim on the woman's insurance because she caused the accident, even though you had no insurance, doesn't matter, as far as the accident was caused by her, as long as she admitted liability at the scene, otherwise it will go to proceedings, then you will have to pay a solicitor to represent you.

    Thanks man, i appreciate it.

Ive spoken with my parents insurance today actually. They told me the same thing. They say they might not need to get involved as it was the other party's fault.
For them to get involved I would need to be prosecuted for theft - though they say to be considered theft that i would have to intended to keep the vehicle permenantly - which was obviously not the case as i only used it for 1 journey
