I am not implying that you caused the accident and it does sound like it was her fault. But the point is you lose the right to claim to be any sort of victim as you were driving illegally even if it was her fault.
I think that you are more annoyed with the woman who drove into you, not because she hit you, but because as a result of her hitting you, you have been caught out.

Dogma, some of us respect the fact that you know what you have done wrong and some people seem to actually know what they are talking about and have offered you good advice.

I can clearly see which points you are defending and which you are not. Some people don't want to see that and would rather take a holier than thou attitude without even being able to give correct advice - just what they think should be the case. It doesn't really matter what you say.

I think you have had good answers from a couple of posters which I hope prepares you for what will come. Personally, I wouldn't bother to argue any more or allow people to make you feel worse than you obviously already do.

I'm glad that some people are not magistrates. When your time comes, you can tell the magistrates the truth about what you are guilty of and indeed what you feel guilty and remorseful of. Hopefully, they will treat you a little more fairly than some on here. :o

I guess the most important things here are:

    1. Thank god nobody was hurt.
    2. You've learnt from this and won't be so silly again.

I have no sympathy for uninsured drivers. I was left to foot the bill when my car was destroyed by someone else. I still haven't received a penny for the damage done to my car, which was a Classic and of tremendous sentimental value.

The woman jumping the red light is a danger to others on the road and will hopefully be punished. But uninsured drivers are a danger to - so much more is at stake than 'just metal'. At the end of the day, if you'd said "sorry, I'm not insured to drive" and stayed at home, the woman wouldn't have crashed in to you.

Mum2one im sorry for what happened to you i really am. But wasnt your accident caused by presumably a boy racer speeding?

In my humble opinion Speeding, driver under the effect of alchool, driving a car without MOT or a license can cause death. Driving uninsured causes a lot of financial hassle. Im not defending people who drive uninsure, GOD NO. but it shouldnt be classified as the same as drink driving...Metal gets replaced. Lifes dont...
The problem is that many of the drivers who drive uninsured also drive with no license or no mot and i think thats why people put ever1 on the same boat.

Mum2one sorry again for your situation and many others too...but as i said ive got a clean driving license

OMFG! You'll trying to justify your actions.

You drove uninsured and you seriously think you should have your car repaired:mad:

Turn it around. You hit someone else. Are you going to pay for their damaged car? Their damaged neck? Their damaged back? Of course you're not.

    6 points and a £200 fine isn't enough for you.

Surely a parallel to this would be if a burglar was 'assaulted' by a home owner while commiting an offence. Yes, you (and the hypothetical burglar) are both 'victims' but you were doing something illegal when it happened.

whatever the court throws at me im gonna take it on the chin... Even in they ban me.. Im already taking the psychological damage and will take the financial one too (the fine at least, dont know exactly how much, £200 was a rough figure it could much more..)

Only reason I'd like the car repaired its because the car isnt mine and for that to possibly happen i already said ill be willing to be prosecuted for taking the car wihtout consent.

Wholeheartedly, this was the dumbest thing ive done in my life and i have learned from it. As someone said some people reading these posts might think again before driving uninsured i hope so too..and i mean this.

this has become a slagging match it should stop and let the fool go through the legal process
this is to the op have your tryed googling it,i have and do's not look good for you because it was not your fault has you say (good)the bad bit becuse you was unisured you are at fault, you should not be driving ,so fault moves from the car that hit you too you, because that car would not have hit you if you was not driving, mite have hit somone else do's not come in to it (think thats right)
there or their, one day i might us the right one ,until then tuff

What they might be arguing is along the same lines as lots have argued in this thread…..

If you are doing something illegal (like driving without insurance or being a burglar) then you lose all rights to be compensated if someone else does something wrong (like jumping a red light and hitting you or electrocuting or, as in the Tony Martin case, shooting a burglar)

They are wrong and the OP will be able to make a successful claim against the woman who jumped the red light and if you deliberately electrocuted/shot a burglar you would be successfully prosecuted just like Tony Martin was.
